I was being a sarcastic, mostly. As my wife says "there is truth in every sarcasm", although, usually only when I make a sarcastic remark directed towards her. So in that vein I don't believe that a singular person can be more than one person . So the manner in which its being used by gender neutrals, it has historically been accepted as plural, despite the fact its a singular person. Why do they "need to commit one way or the other"? Because you don't like it? Wouldn't you just object that the different term (Xe/Xim Andorian style) is just more ridiculous?
You have a bad habit of jumping to the pejorative reason when you disagree with someone's opinion. I clearly said it is "confusing, misleading and not grammatically correct", not because I don't like it.
