Ah Slobi (I can call you Slobi, no? I feel like we're close). Slobi you're analogies are always so delightfully simple. Let me fix it for you: the animal looks like a dog but it comes up to you and meows...and you can't see it, but the reason why it's meowing is because it's brain looks like a cat's brain, not a dog's. You gonna kick it?
It's a simple choice: you can chose to treat your fellow citizens with some dignity and respect, or you can chose to be the asshole. It says more about your character than theirs. What's more, in a postmodern world everything is about power, so every election and every court decision is a crisis. And to some extent it's a pure numbers game...whose got more. So you can choose to treat your fellow citizens with some dignity and respect, all the while arguing as logically as you like about bathrooms, sports inclusion or forced used of pronouns, or you can lose moderates like me. Because here's what it says about you: whether you agree that it's all about power (because then it's about who wins, and guess what, it's not going so hot for you), or whether you think its about individual rights and dignity.
You see, the funny little thing about this Slobi is that people don't realize it, but it's been the frog boiling in the water for quite some time. The only thing we have as our life line is our individualism. Because without both that liberty and civil society, they can quite literally force you to not only bend the knee, say it, but also believe that war is peace, freedom is slavery and ignorance is strength. "The party told you to reject the evidence your eyes and ears. It was their final most essential command."
