'23-'24 SoCal and National Forecast and Updates

Oh Mars!!! Love this response! You da man! You said to pipe down the volume! LOOOL. Agreed on all accounts! Def going to be a wake up call in regard to the the physicality and level of play that they haven’t had in the previous season or two. Also, just so yall know, we haven’t played on this team for the last 2 years. We relocated out of state 2 years ago. Just love keeping up with the flow. Sorry if I rattled any cages!!!!
Oh, that's right, if I remember correctly you're at Boise. So the 09 Seattle Coach just took over FC Virginia. I feel for him because I don't know if he knew what he was walking into. Pretty much the entire player pool left for ECNL teams once the existing coaches and director left. FC Virginia is left with mostly B team players now. Even teams that made GA playoffs have decided not to go. Too bad, seems like a good coach. Not sure if he is staying with the 09 Seattle team for playoffs.

As for LVSH, regardless of outcome, those players will certainly get a lot more exposure and a chance to play against some really tough competition which will help going to the next level. Good move by both clubs.

Off subject, just want to put this out there. Biggest sleeper this year is now VDA and I wouldn't want to draw them in Group play. They added the FCV player on the USYNT along with another very good defender from FCV. Two playups on the 08s may also be put back on age. Other lower seeds I would want to avoid in my group are KC Athletics, SUSA, Bay Area Surf, any Southwest Conferance team, Real Colorado National and Albion (TX). Any of these teams could pull upsets as well as make it out of group play.

SW conference only gets one automatic #1 seed with a conference of 17 teams. SD Surf, HB Koge and Legends will most likely be #3 or 4 seeds since SW teams PPG are not that high since we beat up on each other...would not want to be in group with them.

Not to say it will happen this year in the playoffs, but all 3 of those teams-Surf, Koge, and Legends-made the elite 8 in Richmond last year.

so was Blues 2009 and 2010. 2009 had 4 of the 8 and 2010 had 4 of the 8 in the Finals last year. I would say that's pretty dominating for a geographical area. 2009 they were all from one Conference the Southwest. They really need to change the Southwest format as there are just too many good girls in that area.

San Juan SC from NorCal was there, so 5 from Cal. They played Koge on day 2, I watched that game.
Its really too bad ECNL can't do something better with the SW region or even California in total for that matter. Add in MVLA, as they are strong across the board, and they could really create some tough and challenging games for clubs.

Thanks I missed them. I think Southwest will get a mid season tournament as well like Texas with automatic champions league playoff spots.

There never was a debate.
I think some still want to believe differently…I was never on that side but I did think the top teams could compete with ECNL top teams.

This day however is a double wammy. South Shore was Nat’l GA Champs last year. Losing 5-0 to PDA is not competitive. To top it off, two of the top GA teams that lost to ECNL today, are moving into ECNL next season.

I’m glad we decided to move back when we did. Another interesting debate directly involved our team today. We are 2nd to last in our division but played the top undefeated ECNL RL team today and won 2-1. It wasn’t as close as what the score says and their goal was pretty much an own goal. Something I see in other forums is top RL teams can beat at the minimum, bottom ECNL teams. Well, not today.

ECNL Pre Pre-Playoff Group Preview (Some groups could change if too many are from same conference...but all games that affect seeding are finished). If no changes, this is what you can expect. As I said in the past, no idea who wins this year. I can't even pick one team that makes it to the final four TBH. But I'll give a list of who has a chance. Beach, PDA, FC Stars, KC Athletics, SLSG, Solar, MVLA, Surf, Legends, Koge, and Penn Fusion. All of these teams are very good.

Group 1
1. Loudoun
2. Beach FC
3. VDA (VA)
4. Alabama
#1 seed going home early. Loudoun isn't anywhere as good as its seeding. This will be between VDA and Beach. VDA has added TWO players from the U15 National team since April. (One was removed due to ACL tear) but chemistry and egos could hurt them. Beach moves forward.

Group 2
1. PDA
2. Real Colorado
3. Arizona Arsenal
4. Atlanta Fire United
Honestly, PDA, Real or Arizona could come out of this group. No idea. Perhaps one gets a wild card as well? Not a given for PDA.

Group 3

1. Internationals
2. FC Stars Blue
3. KC Athletics
4. Ohio Premeire
Will be between Stars and Athletics. Internationals has yet to have a good showing outside its conferance.

Group 4
1. United Futbol Academy
2. Eclipse Select
3. Sporting Blue Valley
4. Tennessee Soccer Club
Eclipse vs UFA...I just don't think either are championship contenders.

Group 5
1. Solar
2. Crossfire XF
3. Bay Area Surf
4. Richmond United
Solar. Just don't fall asleep against XF.

Group 6
1. FC Dallas
2. Seattle United
3. Michigan Hawks
4. Dallas Texans
Whole bracket is a complete wildcard but leaning toward FC Dallas.

Group 7
1. MVLA
2. Concorde Fire Platinum
3. SUSA
4. Slammers Koge
MVLA vs Slammers for group winner. Toss up.

Group 8
1. Charlotte
2. Penn Fusion
3. San Diego Surf
4. Legends
This could be the toughest division. Charlotte is probably the weakest team in the group although it is the highest seed. I also think Penn Fusion could surprise Surf or Legends. Toss up between SD Surf, Koge, and Penn Fusion.

Group 9
1. Ohio Elite
2. Match Fit
3. NC Courage
4. CESA
Toughest group followed by weakest group. Don't expect anything from teams coming out of this group. Toss up. Sorry, not sorry.

Group 10
1. San Juan
2. FC Prime
3. World Class
4. La Roca
San Juan makes it through.

Group 11
1. SLSG Navy
2. Sting Dallas Royal
3. Utah Royals
4. Albion TX
SLSG comes out here.

Not sure what the purpose is of making fake brackets other than confuse people who might think this is the actual draw. Conference regular season winners all have automatic #1 seeds for playoffs. And all games that affect seeding are not finished. NC showcase this weekend factors into seeding.

Can you do this for 2010? There are no games that effect seeding in 2010 left.

Can you do this for 2010? There are no games that effect seeding in 2010 left.

No one can. Top 11 are set, and each gets their own group.

Next 33 are assigned randomly, in batches of 11, subject to the constraint that no group can have 2 from the same conference.

So, until they do the draw, no one knows who they are playing. If you are the 25th seed, you know you won't face 23-33, and you won't face your own conference. But you might face anyone else.

Yes, no one knows exactly until draw is completed. Ten conference champions get automatic #1 seed. Next 11 - 44 teams are seeded based on overall PPG for conference and national event games.
