'23-'24 SoCal and National Forecast and Updates

Yes, no one knows exactly until draw is completed. Ten conference champions get automatic #1 seed. Next 11 - 44 teams are seeded based on overall PPG for conference and national event games.

Thanks. I totally missed the conference champs getting the top 10 seeds. Good news for AZ Arsenal.

Any idea when the draw is?

My bad. Not my intent. Didn’t know about that rule.
As it sits with all records. This weekend hasn’t been calculated.
No one can. Top 11 are set, and each gets their own group.

Next 33 are assigned randomly, in batches of 11, subject to the constraint that no group can have 2 from the same conference.

So, until they do the draw, no one knows who they are playing. If you are the 25th seed, you know you won't face 23-33, and you won't face your own conference. But you might face anyone else.
Nothing in the rules says that you don’t face an opponent in your own conference. The rules do make reference to this, but only in the playoff round. And the teams are not selected randomly, according to the rules, they are selected based on all games played, including league, conference cup, and showcase games.

Well, I went back and looked at the brackets in this age group from last year and I didn’t see any conferences playing each other so, although, the rules don’t say it, it seems probable that conference opponents don’t play each other.

NVA loses again to Michigan Hawks…

Not sure is anyone saw that San Diego Surf ECNL 08s lost 6-0 to Bethesda yesterday. That is misleading as the RL team came to North Carolina to play in place of its ECNL team.

A few kids from Surf posted that they were staying home for finals and to prep for nationals.
Seems odd as I assume the RL team had finals too ??
Surf has alot of kids in service on the YNT and Mexican YNT. The US has a trip coming up in a few days so I assume there is more to Surf pulling out of that venue than just "taking finals". I think they had a few last minutes spots open up for the Selection game with Surf backing out.

Speaking of USYNT.. the 2009s roster for the netherland trip should come out in a matter of hours to days.
Some eye opening choices if the names I saw are accurate.

Written or unwritten, there will not be two teams from the same conference in the same group.

Then it would be impossible to determine groups outside of the #1 seeds because it would be subjective as to which conference they give priority to, I would think Southwest would be first priority followed by Texas but after that who knows the order.

If you took notes the last two years and know the rules, it's possible to have the groups nailed down before dinner tomorrow night.

Are there archives that have standings from the past two years. I can’t find any. I have a spreadsheet that would suggest possible groups but no certainty to their priority.

The one seeds are already determined since no results tomorrow would change the order of the top 11.

Not yet, UFA and NVA are still 1 seeds and both are playing. Their results will fluctuate their ranking.

UVA started their weekend at the 1 seed, now they are sitting at 5 with one game to go. NVA started at the 6 seed and currently they are sitting at 8th.

Correct. Top four seeds are locked in as PDA, MVLA, Solar and SLSG.

UFA and Seattle can be 5 or 6.

Beach is #7

NVA and FC Stars can be 8 or 9 and Internationals is #10.

Sting Royal gets the #11 seed as top PPG for a non-conference winner.

PDA
MVLA
Solar
SLSG
UFA
Seattle
Beach
NVA
FC Stars
Internationals
Sting Royal

Sting Royal has a PPG of 2.54 and Ohio Elite SC has a PPG of 2.55

They both have 2.54 according to ECNL with Sting having the GD advantage but they'll end up #11 & #12 which play each other so it is merely semantics.
