How’s the 2023-24 season going?

Doesn't surprise me.

The way things are setup right now is that clubs recommend the top players from each team in their geographical league to go to Talent IDs, ODP, or whatever. Basically, the most aggressive or impactful players get sent up from each team in the local league.

What should be happening is that ALL starting players on the top teams in each league should go on the next level. (not one or two from each team in the league) If a team is last in the league why are you even looking at their players? It doesn't make sense.

Look at the USWNT this year vs Spain. USWNT looked like a bunch of highly skilled individuals. Spain looked like a team that played together very well + used this to win it all.

LOL....here you go again....if we're following your logic then many would ask why look at GA at all when 95% of serious players are in the ECNL? City SC being top dog in GA still doesn't make them better than mid tier ECNL and that's being v generous....you shill and shill and shill for City SC while I am just stating the facts based on cross play results between ECNL and GA.....

I said promotion should be team dependent not based on individual performance. I didn't mention league at all I don't know what your reading.

The top teams in a league obviously have something that works. To me this is 100% more valuable than individual skills.

There seems to be an assumption here that the best players play for the best teams, regardless of whether their parents have the resources to make that happen, but that's not reality. The best teams don't have the best players, just the best players whose parents can afford it.

If you look at a professional team famed for their scouting - Brighton - they're looking at the likes of Kawasaki Frontale in Japan and Independiente del Valle in Equador to pick up their next stars, not just buying discards from Man City or Barcelona: great players on obscure teams.

Thanks Carlsbad. The thing is she has 3 more years before she can drive, so her journey is my journey until she pays and drives herself. People always try to say "Well, they have to do the work. Your daughter has to be responsible and talk to the coach. You have to let go.", but here is the thing.

I'm paying for this. I"m giving up weekends and evenings to drive her everywhere. There is no way this is not "our journey" until she can drive and pay for her own club soccer. She is just lucky as hell she is as athletically gifted as she is!

I await the day it's her journey though!! Thing is if I'm paying for that journey, it must be a productive journey! America has gotten so lost that people who don't even own homes are paying for club soccer and I'm not knocking anyone who doesn't own a home. I'm just pointing out that our priorities are crazy!! I can't help, but think that I could be saving this money for my daughter to one day put down on a house instead of club soccer as well! We've lost our damn minds I think!

On a scale vs gymnastics and other sports though, soccer is probably cheaper. It's just it could be a lot cheaper and more accessible. I think many like it this way for their own advantages, because we all want to make teams and keep our girls together.
It doesn't end even when they reach the college level. They will still come to you asking for advice (which they may ignore), help, money, etc. Heck, I just found out the owner of the company I work for helps his 40+ year old daughter financially even though she is a professor at a college because So Cal is expensive to live here.

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking to hear what the public thinks are the top players in the 2010 age group. I know that a big portion of the girls 2010 talent is concentrated in Socal. Looking for public opinion on the Top 5 Forwards, Top 5 Midfileders, and Top 8 Defenders in the age group. Please do not provide player names just looking for club team and jersey number. Top 3 over all players as well. Thanks
This is a terrible question to ask. If you’re indeed a scout then go a scout them .

First off, I appreciate the feedback. I understand the importance of on-the-ground scouting, and I assure you that's a fundamental aspect of what I do. The reason I posed such a question here isn't to solely rely on the community for my scouting but to leverage a broader perspective. There's a wealth of knowledge and insight within the soccer community. Sometimes, fans, parents, or even local coaches can shed light on players who might not initially catch a scout's eye. By asking for just the club and jersey number, I'm trying to ensure privacy and ethical consideration for these young athletes.

I absolutely agree with you on the importance of proactive scouting. However, blending direct observations with community insights can provide a more holistic view. Remember, this is just one method in a myriad of approaches I employ to scout talent. Rest assured, I'm out there attending games and practices to see these players in action.

Thanks for your understanding and your shared passion for the sport.

Fair point and I understand your reasoning. Blues has a very talented forward who can score from almost anywhere on the field. Surf has the most talented offense at the moment. Pats has a strong cb and talented mid. Legends has a great striker and recently added a strong wing. Slammers Ecnl has a very talented defender and keeper. Koge has strong mids, a strong cb, two strong outside backs and a relentless striker. Koge and LA breakers have the top keepers of the age group.

I'll bet anybody that this is just a crazy parent. Not a real scout.

You just proved the scout's point. You know who the top players are.

TFA B2010s center mid should be looked at as well as Slammers E64 #25 and #9. Legends ECNL #13

Sorry, I was mistaken, if we’re talking just USYNT and not programs like PDP then I’d just put TFA’s center mid on the list. Didn’t realize what level was being mentioned. I also agree with some of the above recommendations
I've heard great things about the talented TFA player. OM and AT went through the TFA way and look at them both. I have been impressed with OM and AT is amazing. My daughter had the honor and privilege battling these two greats day after day at the Ranch. They made the first list, as did Shaw and a few can't miss talents. It's the rest of the List that the Scout needs help from the parents.

Makes sense why she may have been missed since she plays with boys. I don't think it's because some DOC had sour grapes @crush that would be ridiculous but knowing the club politics of Socal I would not be surprised. I don't think US soccer girl scouts are paying any attention to a boy's league, so in that case it would be up to the TFA director to recommend her to the USYNT ID camp. If it's that midfileder I'm thinking of that used to play for Blues then I would also recommend her like @TeamDadJokes is doing.

That's possible if a parent is recommending their own kid. All I'm trying to see if any new names arise aside from the known names in the master database we have compiled. Of course we would do our own due diligence. For example, we recently discovered a key prospect that was not in any of the lists. She was not part of the last USA ID center camp and was not associated with PDP or ODP. She may be one of the top players in this age group from what I've seen so far and I can't believe she was overlooked by club directors.

Do people still take ODP and PDP seriously?
