That's a bit of a "whataboutery" argument, which is always pretty weak. I mean, let's not focus on children dying because its "only" 3% of 40,000 - I mean, 1200 children dying from guns annually is not that much relatively speaking so let's move along.
We could maybe have a broader discussion about where the criminals get their guns, as that seems to be a major reason for people having guns.

You are completely wrong about my take. I only mention the 3% because it's dishonest to not look at the whole picture. You (and others) can politicize all day long. The reality is most kids that die from gunshot wounds are not killed in mass shootings. They die in less than ideal conditions in chicago, east st. louis, etc. Political hacks hijack the issue to win office, why trauma folks and their families deal with the mess.
This issue is way to complex to capture. The fact is guns are on the street, guns are in people's homes, law abiding citizens aren't going to give up their guns...they know giving up their guns aren't going to solve the problem. It's a sad circle.
