I wonder why Cal South had a tough time seeding the Slammers. They didn’t play CRL but anyone paying attention knew this was the 2017 National Cup champs. I think there was also some confusion with the 06 slammers squads as well.
yes, this was CB 2017 with new adds. anytime you have good on good like this and there is the pressure of a 1-1 tie late the game can get a bit rough but I thought both teams played well and no doubt those two teams showed why they are at the top of the pecking order. Congrats to both teams for a well fought game.
Just for fun, and I know it’s always a interesting topic within youth development and something we overlook at this “must win” time of the year but who do you think will be the better team at U16 (when it really matters)?
Must say I was a little disappointed with both Slammers and Surf today. Surf didn’t look their usual self possessing the ball and almost looked tired/nervous. Although they tried to stick to their style, it was harder for them to break down Slammers. I still appreciate the way surf tries to play though and think they’re a joy to watch.
Slammers on the other hand played very direct and looked to turn the game into a scrappy physical battle which certainly disrupted Surf’s game. It looked very much like an old Strikers and CB style of playing, putting the ball into areas, turning the team, and looking to capitalize on mistakes.
Either way these are easily the two top teams in the state and this was the National Cup Final in my opinion. Both team deserved to be in the final but unfortunately the luck of PK’s had to decide it today.

Three years from now who knows how many of the same girls will be on the same team. SD Surf and LAFC both put out quality teams, both put girls in college and on National Team flip a coin. Why does winning at U16 really matter?

Ask Farley.Brookfield 1-0 over Galaxy? Wow! That's unexpected. Any given Sunday (or Saturday in this case) I suppose. Anyone with the story behind this?
Ask Farley.
