What's going on Cal South and State Cup Semi's?

Why call Surf when the information can be read here?

Dear Anaheim Surf Parents,

I’d like to reach out to all club members to personally congratulate our Girls 2006 team coached by Brent Whitfield on their State Cup Presidents Championship this past weekend, and also address the controversy that unfortunately was attached to their tournament wins.

6 days before the team was due to play in the semifinals of State Cup, Cal South Protest, Appeals and Disciplinary (PAD) informed us that a team had filed a complaint alleging that one of the players on our team was an overaged player and had played during the 2016-17 regular season and in the tournament. Cal South PAD requested additional documentation, which our registrar immediately provided in the form of a copy of the player’s original birth certificate that we felt proved that our player was indeed playing in the correct age group.

Because of a conflicting document in an old record found in the Cal South system, that was uploaded prior to this player joining Anaheim Surf, a ruling was made to disqualify our team from State Cup. We were unaware of the documentation until this past week. On Thursday, two days before the semifinal game, after learning of the disqualification from an update of the State Cup results page, we immediately appealed the Cal South PAD findings to the State Cup Appeals Committee (SCAC). Our appeal was granted and was heard by the SCAC on Friday.

We provided, and Cal South SCAC reviewed the following documentation: 1) An original birth certificate, 2) An alternate form of picture ID, and 3) Enrollment records sent directly from the player’s school that all confirmed the player’s 2006 birthday. After the SCAC reviewed the documentation they concluded that there was no violation of Cal South Rule 9.4 and verified the age correctly of the player as a 2006 birth year, thus overturning the decision to disqualify our team from State Cup. The findings from SCAC are as follows:

Subject: SCAC Appeal Decision: ANAHEIM SURF 2006 - WHITFIELD
The determination to overturn the decision to disqualify Anaheim Surf 2006- Whitfield, team 0365-01CG06-1036, from the Cal South State Cup competition was a result of reviewing all documentation provided and interviewing multiple individuals by the State Cup Appeals Committee (SCAC). Among the documents provided was the original birth certificate and school records. The SCAC has determined that the Cal South State Cup Rule 9.4 was not violated as the determination letter from Craig Mues stated.

We perform our due diligence to the best of our ability every year when registering new and returning players in our club. Despite the clear evidence to the contrary, some in the soccer community continue to accuse our club of cheating by rostering an overage player. Let me emphatically state: we have only ever seen evidence that the player is correctly rostered and we believe the overwhelming evidence bears this out. I established this club 19 years ago and strive every day to operate in an ethical manner. Cheating to gain an advantage is something we have never done, and will never do.

If you’d like to talk to me in person or via phone about this matter, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Eddie Carrillo

You highlighted a piece of the letter that mentions the state cup ruling and mentions Craig Mues. From what I have been told from various club officials Craig Mues did not say "the Cal South State Cup Rule 9.4 was not violated ..." in fact he is feels the player in question is not a 06 but rather an 05. And, as reported by Mues he has attempted to speak to both Quan and Barraza about the matter and they have not responded.

And, who wrote this letter to feel the need to add the highlighted section which includes the rule and outcome? Well I can't see a DOC doing this but rather maybe someone else who has something to lose. Like a club with legal council?

You are such a fool. Go back down that rat hole with your bogus medal. AS cheated and that's a fact. You won nothing. Let's see how you do next year loser. Send 2 back to Vegas as well.

YouQUOTE="Mrjackten, post: 48896, member: 1018"]Shocking....an official letter comes out and still no one believes.....I think I hurd that befour...yes, the conspiracy. Just comedy. The real comedy is reading all the funny stuff you all type. Miller...Please, I am begging you, don't come anywhere near any AS event, I am sure they will be happy to not have you. Can you send a picture so they can watch out for you?
I try to avoid these forums for a reason and Highly doubt that any DOC would dare venture into these rat holes to read this trash. This topic was just too good to pass up and banter in....AGAIN. Everyone needs to calm down. This 10 year old girls soccer. There are plenty of stupid parents that will be weeded out between now and when our kids turn 15, 16 & 17.
Think big picture. Let's turn the page and look forward to next season. I wish the best for everyone's DD.

Why was she disqualified from the tournament. Please answer that question cheating fool.

Carrillo must be thinking - What did I sign up for...we just should have stayed PSA Panther Soccer, where we had Flight 2 and 3 teams, the only competitive teams are/were the teams (Carrillo coaching his daughter's teams to showcase). Now Carrillo brings over a team that really is an Arsenal Team (majority played for Arsenal (still live in the IE), coached by an Arsenal Coach). This is not worth all the headaches - let's go back to "development is our business"....less headaches. Also, isn't the registrar his wife?? Might be someone else now.

Girl didn't play because Cal South has not determined what age group she belongs in. All they said is that the paperwork filed by AS appeared to be correct BUT they have proof that she played as an 05 at Arsenal. Cal South will have to determine is she an 05 or 06 going forward

If you read Mr. Jackten's posts he makes references to conspiracy theories. Which I find interesting. I am no conspiracy theorist but this poster appears to be more of a diversion. Could these posts be managed from another source? Is this person really an AS parent? Despite their claims?
Without question he's an AS(S) parent. Nobody would speak that defensively if they weren't personally vested.

That makes no sense.

Great player no names involved. Come forward with your story. You played us in a tourney and beat us with your cheating 05 player. Not cool. Your team cheated and that's a fact bro.
@Lone Wolf

You don't know anything about #2. I'm her father and you need to leave her out of this! If you have something to say about her you can contact me directly. You're with LAGSD, what is your name?

I don't play when it comes to my daughter. You need to have respect and don't be speaking on other people's kids who you know nothing about.

It's certainly plausible that the coach and team manager kept the registrar and club in the dark, but I've yet to hear anyone explain how the coach and team manager somehow were unaware of her being born in 2005 when it was spoken about openly within the team and someone had to switch out that birth certificate from their log book.

Please avoid calling out specific kids by name or number. Even if other players were too old these are children. Let's focus on the adults not the kids.

That said if your kid is on this team Cal South should be asking many questions, checking documentation, and tracing back the player histories. If any of the girls were somehow also issued new player ID's that would obviously trigger even more questions.

It appears CalSouth has cleared the girl, I know it doesn't make sense to some, but there was a process, in that process documentation was shown that proved the player was an 06. We as parents are not privy to personal private information of a 10 year old girl. This is all rumors and a witch hunt.

What you all think happened:

This is CalSouth a well run organization, if it bothers you that much your dd lost to AS, a smaller club, then call calsouth, complain and ask about the process. Don't piss off dads and moms on this forum by insulting their dd's. Most if not all the info I got on this subject was from here, and most of it is rumor. Remember this is a small community and a current AS kid may one day play on the same team as your dd. We need to trust the rules, process, and those put in charge of enforcing the rules. Innocent until proven guilty.

I don't do this soccer forum drama, you can speak to me in person. It was brought to my attention that you brought up my daughter and I'm telling you man to man, don't talk about my daughter.

You have no clue what you are talking about. You must think we're related because we're black.

#2 has been playing in SoCal since U8. She isn't going anywhere so get used to it. I'm sure you know where to find me since you know so much about us, come speak to me in person.

Wow calling me out as a racist. You have no clue bro. Just stating facts. Cheaters never win. Keep trying to divert the action away from what your team did. Cheated!!!!

Innocent until proven guilty.

I agree, which is why initially I would shutdown even the mention of this issue until one day someone showed a new player ID had been issued for a player that was already in the system. I've heard other things as well, but when people who have been in this business for decades are unable to even hypothesize an innocent explanation for the duplicate ID then I think the questions are warranted until they are answered.

I like the people involved, but if they are going to claim they are innocent they owe us an explanation for why they we should let them slide after they apparently snuck around creating a duplicate ID. Why did the parents put a 2005 birthdate and submitted a birth certificate with a 2005 birthdate for the previous 3 years. Would be great to hear how they are not involved in this.

I have no connection to AS other then that we have played them a handful of times and spoken on occasion. As somebody in the field of character development, it never ceases to amaze me the body language and actions BW takes while coaching from the sidelines. Unbelievable and not good in numerous ways for these young girls, mostly in how the parents are teaching them that that is okay for a man to act like that or talk like to them....there is no way I would put my daughter in an environment where she would need to "respect" that .

That being said, I tried to look at this whole situation as a problem needing to be solved as to why this child could possibly have 2 different documents and why CalSouth may have chosen to look the other way if those rumors are true . This is only a theory but a completely plausible one and also why they couldn't be open with people after the fact . The answer was right in my face the whole time. I don't know the young lady in question but somebody referred to her parents as a couple who didn't speak much English....Well I have 2 employees who work for me legally, who entered the country illegally as children. Both over a decade or 2 ago and years apart from each other. For whatever reason they BOTH have an incorrect birthdate on their current legal documents which includes their drivers licenses and passport. One's documents reads he is born on the correct date but 2 years older then he really was, the other on a completely different date. As a result they both had to go to school with kids older then them and struggled as a result when they were younger. Why??? I don't ask but obviously it happened during the immigration stage. They have been here years, pay taxes and are good people, with zero reason to lie to me about their real birthdate other then they almost seemed embarassed. Specially during today's political climate, this is just one example on a possible explanation as to why this young lady has 2 different dates, although it doesn't answer which one is correct or even how they could find out.
All I know is it's in the past. G2006 State Cup is over. My daughter's team didn't win and NO, I don't believe it was because of this one potentially 2005 player. As for those who brought this to cal south's attention, I do wonder as to why you waited so long as it seems there are many who knew or thought they knew since the beginning of the season. It seems to me you TOO are just as guilty when it comes to creating such a roller coaster of uncertainty for the GalaxySB and Legends girls in that last week.
Time to start focusing on the future and what's next because as has been mentioned MANY of times, these girls ARE only 10.
Just my thoughts. I Look forward to watching my daughter play against yours in the years to come and watching the different journeys our kids will take along the way.
