Pateadores Girls DA 03/04 - Observations

Do we know who the coach is for Pats Da 03?

Yeah, that is the crazy part. How can you commit to a team without knowing who the coach is, why style of play he/she teaches, and what kind of experience with women's soccer he/she has? If you are committing to a team because it's free, then it should be due to a financial hardship. Why risk your daughter's development unless you know who is running the DA program and what they're going to teach the players? Even with Legends, I wouldn't commit until you know who is in charge, and what type of experience they have...too much speculation and not enough concrete information.

The Pats will be decent. I think the first year will be a wash anyway honestly.
Glad to hear the majority of parents I speak to are more focused on the development rather than the "super team" mentality. Why would you go to ECNL at a former powerhouse when you could do DA at a new club? I am seeing Girls being cut at a former great club being out on DA at others so why wouldn't you? Makes no sense to me actually because the best coaches are doing DA for the most part (for the most part no slights intended)

PS not to be a Pats homer because I am not but if you look at the boys side of Pats you will see what game they play. In all honesty I would be careful about a perception of a club. They will be good, possession based almost like a Deanza where you won't see the full effect until 16.
They don't play "big fast athletes game". Cough cough...
Again new landscape guys. Who is the best now I would venture to say may have some competition in the next few years. DA changed the game and released the ECNL chokehold. Now we will actually see who develops vs who by default gets the most talented girls due to an ECNL status.

Also, thinking about the off years. Is it crazy to go to a non ecnl da club and possibly play scdsl in the off years? If there is no new league formed by the off year, then a Da with ecnl affiliation is the way to go from the start? Does this play into the decision making for next season? Some ecnl clubs have already given out offers for da next season to their internal ecnl players, getting ahead of the May scramble.

Good points. If I had to choose between a watered down ECNL team and a strong SCDSL team that plays CRL, National Cup and the big summer tournaments, or change SCDSL for intramural DA-II (but keeping CRL, National Cup and the summer tournaments), I would choose the latter (less miles in the car and money spent in travel).

The only thing heard so far is that the combo age group piece won't be around very long.
That sure would be a game changer to do away with the combo age thing! It would create consistency (players can be on the same team for more than 1 year), it poses the question about a fully funded da (for more than 1 year and if there are more than 3 da teams, how can clubs afford to be fully funded?), and would there be a need for "reserve" teams and a different league, I think not?

I personally don't think there is enough uber talent to have a top Da / Ecnl team on a club, unless you are an 01 or 02 on Blues, this would be the exception. My personal opinion only.
That makes sense because those teams mentioned are already on the radar in terms of recruitment.

Where?

Of course you would. Being a company guy by the look of your screen name I wouldn't expect you to say anything else. I would just look here and go to those clubs with the largest number and best commitments if you are just looking for the best overall situation.

Oh my goodness Cali did I sense some pragmatic non-homerism coming out of you? There is hope for you yet.

I have found in my experience that those that do it best continue to do it best regardless of the label. A rose by any other name still smells as sweet. A jackass in a Lamborghini is still a jackass.
