Options are great to have....but with the current Ecnl season not ending until May-June time frame, is there a purpose to going to a Da tryout in December unless you are ready to commit to that Da right now? They won't wait 5 months to see if you will take their offer, right? Da tryouts for Ecnl clubs will be held in May b/c of the 5/1 date for current Ecnl players. With Pats and La Galaxy Da's being fully funded, maybe some families will sign early and forego their own Da's? For current Ecnl players with no Da, I think that you may see more of these players at early Da tryouts? Keep us posted babaooey.

So, what will be more important to parents and players? Being on a top team (all DAs will not be created equally) or get fully funded? And how far are parents willing to drive for free?
I do not think that in SoCal "fully funded" will make much of a difference, there is little travel and I am guessing that the DA fee will be lower than the fee most are paying now.
Yes, seeing how the ECNL-DA clubs respond to this potential second DA league will be very interesting. If they are on board with it, I would think that ECNL would completely lose SoCal. Actually, I am guessing that ECNL would immediately eject these clubs, which would produce the same lose SoCal outcome. If I had to bet, I would bet on the ECNL-DA clubs not participating in this second DA league.

Ecnl will only have "A" team players if they forego playing DA and decide to play high school soccer instead. I personally think that most Ecnl teams will be made up of Egsl players for all Da clubs. I have heard DOC's say that the Egsl Team will become the Ecnl team for next season. Which club can truly say they currently have 35+ "A" team players playing on their ecnl team and 2nd team? NONE at the 03 age group level. Da definitely hurts the quality player that Ecnl Teams will get. Maybe the answer is that Ecnl clubs should not have a DA? There shouldn't be as many DA clubs? I personally don't think there is enough uber talent to have a top Da / Ecnl team on a club, unless you are an 01 or 02 on Blues, this would be the exception. My personal opinion only.
Three or four weeks ago I talked to two Blues coaches, one of them is pretty high in the command list but is not #1 nor #2. They were trying to recruit my girl. In the final "do you have any question for us?" moment, I asked him whether Blues was fully committed to DA, and he confirmed that the DA teams would be the tip of the pyramid in Blues. I think that, in SoCal, DA will be the top league and will have the majority of the top players, without question.
I expect the clubs to fund part of it. If you read the DA application (the one the clubs submitted to US Soccer in June-July), you will see that there is an entry for the clubs to write down how much the club fees will be for the program. Obviously, any club that wanted to get its bid in would try to score well in this number. I heard that US Soccer had in mind a particular number as an "acceptable" fee, and that number is lower than what I am paying now.DA fees cannot be lower based on all of the aspects of the program unless they are funding part of it
With that said, will Pats get the top talent Da players in SoCal? Are Da clubs that are non ecnl at a disadvantage with less of an internal pool of top players? Sounds like their reserve teams will be made up of primarily Pats players and some outside players. Great coaching staff and fully funded means a lot. Do we know who the coach is for Pats Da 03?
