How’s the 2023-24 season going?

@Luis Andres where have you been man? We all miss you here at the forum. What’s new?

Where is Luis?
Lots going on in this thread that I need to catch up. Just reading the tail end of it. Got numerous notifications in my email. I really don’t have any comments but to say she will be playing playoffs with girls this summer. I think @TeamDadJokes @crush and @Veritas have the most accurate assessment is all I will leave you with. They either know me personally or could be friends of friends because I agree with them. As far as the Blues I have nothing to say for this season as we were not there but the stats speak for themselves. All I can say is that last season they were a much better team based on the stats. Was proud of my DD in how she played last year playoffs with Blues. She was definitely the play making catalyst that took that team to Virginia. She created all the offense scoring or assisting in the last couple games that mattered to enter round of 16 and then Virginia. She also had the big play in Virginia at the end of the surf game with 10 minutes left to make the big assist so the striker could tie the game and get them into penalties vs Surf. She was then left on the bench during PK’s which put a sour taste in my mouth. Not to take anything away from the other amazing players that provided the support defensively and offensively to make it happen. I have nothing against AR. I just didn’t see eye to eye with him. I think his intentions for the game we all wanted were there but not the execution of the way it should have been done. That’s why we left for greener pastures. That year was suppose to be about the girls learning to build out the back and play a more possession type of game like a man city. I don’t regret going to the blues. She learned to be a much more mentally tough player and I give that credit to Rob Rennie for helping her be a more mentally stronger player. I don’t regret the 9v9 days with Blues

Welcome back Luis. What a journey it has been. RR is the real deal.

I don’t know you personally but you seem like a reasonable dad who’s just trying to do what’s best for their kid just like many of us here are doing as well. But you are correct my source said he knows someone that’s a close friend of yours. One last question is she just playing with girls for the summer? is she going to continue with boys next season? Can you provide feedback on what it’s like playing with a high level boys team? Pros and cons. I’m curious since I also wanted my daughter to play with some high level boys team. I just don’t think she would make the team lol. Did it make her a better player ?

Per ECNL rules if you sign for playoffs you have to play with that team the next year. You could always play in a different organization though or probably drop mid season again and leave for another ECNL team with a better shot at the championship.

Those rules and agreements aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on. I knew of a player who was on 3 ECNL rosters in the same season and played GA.

What about for a discovery player? Thats what I was told she is signed up as.

Discovery player can be someone who floats around each week and can be the difference maker for that game. Per my source, these types of discovery players are hard to come by and she will be utilized each week. For example, maybe the discovery player needs to go out and just score some goals that game so she will be play with her age group that day. Then maybe the next week she needs to work on challenges with bigger players, so she plays up two ages that week. I love it. Come playoff time, she will be used for best fit. "Come discover the wonders of our club, become a discovery player."
Any rostered NL player can do that. Don’t need to be discovery.

In the old days of ECNL, the Discovery player helped a club in socal win the Natty. She didn't practice at all, just showed up to the best games. Without her, know way they win the Natty. She would fly in and go ball.

I just checked my sources. Blues is prob going to lose the majority of their starters according to my sources. Blues made it to Virginia last year very true. This year they may not make playoffs and for the first time ever that team has a negative goal differential. According to my sources last season they lost one of the top playmakers in the age group and she went to Koge but that team was still able to stay competitive and make it to Virginia cause they had the other top playmaker in the age group. The player that Murf referred to as the straw that stirred the cup on that team. Once she left end of season that Blues team offense fell apart hence a negative goal differential tells you that they are not creating the scoring chances like they did prior year. No way they make Virginia this year and if they are lucky to stay in third and make playoffs they will just be wasting parents money. If my daughter was on that team, I’d be praying not to make playoffs to save my 5k. Worst thing is to go to playoffs and waste money and time. While Blues are not bad defensively, offensively they have fools gold and can’t produce. Regarding Legends they show 24 on roster but have like 6 girls out due to injury. I’m sure there will be adjustments to that roster soon. If you look at their roster now they have added 1 Blues player that was a starter and that mid from Blues last season who Murf referred to as the straw that stirred the cup. Legends could be a top contender next season especially if they pick up the the remaining Blues starters and possibly this season the Cinderella team of the playoffs that has a strong chance to possibly make Virginia.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to discuss specific details publicly. But if you really want to know you can dm me and I will be glad to give you my feedback so it helps your daughter. Publicly I will say there are definitely pros and cons and it’s not for everyone. Some of the attributes needed are discipline, self motivated, mentally tough, technical, athletically fast with a strong core balance. Referring to age 13 and older. Under 13 it’s not a problem. Maybe losing out on potential friendships with other girls.

That's why they play the games!!!

Hey mates! Jimmy here back from the land of dodgy doctors and even dodgier painkillers! Took a tumble and lost a leg in the process, but hey, at least I can still barrack from the sidelines, eh?

These parents here are going at it like it's the World Cup final! Settle down, chuck another snag on the barbie, and let the girls have some fun! Sounds like the Blues are about as useful as a chocolate fireguard this season, and the Legends are all frothed up over nothing more than a cuppa tea. Let's see how it all washes out on the pitch, shall we? Might be hobbling there on a milk crate, but you can bet I'll be there cheering my voice hoarse!

That's because it's bigger than the World Cup Final. Our kids are playing! :p

Two interesting races to end the season. Surf/Koge for the top of Sonoran, and the Eagles/Beach contest for the last Mojave playoff slot. Have fun out there.
