Coaching is a critical component of sports success and identifying talented coaches is indeed a challenge. While there may not be a "big pool" of amazing coaches available, organizations can use a variety of methods to locate and attract talented individuals, including referrals, networking, and scouting. Additionally, training and development programs can help build actual coaching skills. I presume, high level experience is necessary for an ECNL job. Its the DOC's job to actively seek out new hires on a regular basis and make sure these coaches are doing their jobs. Got a real hard time shelling out thousands on BAD coaching.

First, Columbia made it to the quarters in World Cup. Second, US easily beat Columbia in game two 3-0. Third, many teams can hold better teams down, as well as beat them (ref UCI beating UCLA in first round NCAA). One issue is the USWNT doesn't play together enough, these games come right in the middle of NWSL playoffs. Another one is working in better younger players, which it looks like they are doing this time. Concerning college. One big issue is the colleges play two weeks together, then the season starts. Another 2-3 weeks together before starting the season would be a huge benefit.

CitySC and FRAM won their brackets at GA Champions Cup this weekend. This means two things.

1. Both teams will get preferential seeding at GA finals.
2. Both teams are in the top 5 of GA (at the 2010 level)

This also sets up a possibility that both GA and ECNL G2010 winners this season could be from Socal.

Maybe, even hopefully, but there are still a number of GA teams above both that would be expected to beat either of them pretty handily. The top teams are almost 2 goals stronger, and there is a large gap from #6 in the country to #35 in the country. Anything can happen on the day, and who knows who will show up with their best game - but it sure looks like neither will be the national champions for GA at 2010 given the game results so far.

This is one of those situations where ranking alone doesn't really help. Because both City and FRAM won their bracket this means they won't have to play Nationals, South Shore Select, or TopHat (the other bracket winners) initially in the next national event. Many of the top teams will have knocked each other out before playing bracket winners. This is a huge advantage. It's kind of like playing on a Surf team at Surf Cup. ;-)

Something else was occurring which you can't really see in rankings but it was very obvious when watching top GA teams play. Many of the top GA teams have very strong forwards and offensive players. However they're lacking on the defensive side. When pushed more into a defensive game they didn't know what to do + fell apart. My guess is that this is occurring because the top GA teams in their respective regional leagues tend to dominate the other clubs.

In Socal ECNL the top teams are very good because they play each other a lot + it's always a matter of exploiting where the opponent is weakest. This means they have a good offense, defense, mids, goal, etc.

Not gonna lie, I’m kind of disappointed that Top Hat didn’t stick around a few days longer to scrimmage against some of the ECNL teams out here like Hawaii and a few other teams have done in the past after traveling from far to make the most out of their trip.

Winning their bracket is a huge advantage, and a big win for the team - but if they want to be national champions they have to face one of the top clubs above them at some point, right? But some of them will certainly be knocked out by eachother before the semifinals/finals happen, which always helps.

The team overall has had an amazing track record of being a top 3-4 team in California and top 10 in the country since 2018. The girls play the right way and have had a lot of exposure to USNWT scouts.

In regards to LAFC, I don’t know too much about that coach or program. The team has been hit or miss over the years but always competitive (top 20 California). Last time we played against them we noticed a very physical and aggressive direct play style. They have some great players on that team but have been middle of the pack for ECNL SW.

I'm thinking of just driving out to Orange County for 3-4 months to finish this season. @TeamDadJokes Not sure where your information came from about the Eagles parents because it seems to be the complete opposite of what you said over there. Does anyone know at this point if the coach will be returning for the 2024-2025 season? Really like the Eagles practice facility compared to LAFC's. Anyone else have some information about Guy Azour's team. I've spoken to him a few times and I'm curious how the players being young adjust with his coaching style and communication? FRAM was interesting. The games we got out to see were lopsided. Lots of love for their coach which was refreshing to see. Competition in GA seemed on par of RL games. Its just not the same as ECNL.

The lower end of GA (Southwest) is better than ECRL. It's roughly equivalent to the lower end of ECNL Southwest.

The reason I say this is because with ECRL teams blow up yearly and if there's ever a standout player the clubs ECNL team will steal them. (Same thing happens with DPL) With GA since it's the top team for the club lower end teams will stay together longer + if there's a standout player their only option for higher level of play is to leave the club.

blues dismantled eagles at surf cup. Real score was 4-1 as someone posted it incorrectly. Blues looked like a different team this tournament
