How’s the 2023-24 season going?

hope this is the place. looking for coaching feedback. wife is taking a job in ventura county. ill be relocating the family to westlake village. daughters coming from the northwest region NL. two closest teams are eagles and lafc. feedback on Jawara Adisa-Farrar and Guy Azouri would be helpful. was able to watch both teams play this last weekend. im leaning towards lafc. the team had fight where the eagles team looked exhausted and beat. im not too concerned about a teams record at this age but im looking for a coach who can develop players. Guy Azouri has a great history but ive been told hes not only new to the country but its his first year coaching in the ECNL. not interested in fighting la traffic so my choices are limited.

The answer is to reach out to both coaches and ask for your child to train with the teams. See in-person what is the best fit for your athlete and your family. Crucial tip: make sure to mention to both coaches that you carefully vetted them w/strangers on a message board and in the case of Eagles- let the coach know that you're slandering his team in the same forum. Trust me!

just looking for simple feedback. ive spoke to the coaches already and have watched training sessions by both. the best information is typically from "strangers" on an anonymous message board because they don't hold back. there is no way to tell if a coach can develop by going to a few practices. you need to look at their body of work over time and ask the community. you seem a bit sensitive since I used the words beat and exhausted. your daughter must be on that team or your part of that club. what is your feed back about the coach and team? some of the parents I did speak with told me the team just had a tournament which could explain some fatigue.

I would first check to see if your daughter is good enough for any of these 2 teams. North west NL is comparable to RL in SoCal

my daughter has guest played in multiple tournaments at the 2009 level with both Surf and Blues NL teams. im aware of the comp in the nw division and its the main reason she plays up one year. ive made 2 posts on a socal soccer board and Californians are already living up to their reputation. please tell me this isn't how everyone is. im a parent simply looking for honest feed back about the coaches mentioned.

Jaja is pretty solid. I don’t think you can go wrong with him. From parents who have kids on the team I’ve heard great things and how he does a great job splitting play time and building confidence in his players. The team overall has had an amazing track record of being a top 3-4 team in California and top 10 in the country since 2018. The girls play the right way and have had a lot of exposure to USNWT scouts.

In regards to LAFC, I don’t know too much about that coach or program. The team has been hit or miss over the years but always competitive (top 20 California). Last time we played against them we noticed a very physical and aggressive direct play style. They have some great players on that team but have been middle of the pack for ECNL SW.

As a 3rd option, LA Breakers is just as competitive to LAFC. I know their coaching staff has consistently been pretty good with really good college connections.

Lastly, FRAM GA is also pretty solid with WM as the coach who has always taught the girls how to play the right way too.

What position does your daughter play? Just curious.

I haven't heard much from/about G2010 Eagles lately.

Makes me think that some of their talent might have gone to other teams. Or Eagles had several early developers + now everyone else has caught up.

Also might have just been a fluke. Early league games can go either way.
I think the Eagles have been bitten by the injury bug.. it has been long intimated that club performance falls as their teams get older..

@Luis Andres this is how your fame started with a ‘simple question’ LOL

excuses all around! Beach has a great program and great players all around.. perhaps if Sporting’s best player (who is out with an injury)would’ve played then that excuse would have merit. Giving credit to a group of girls who worked really hard during a league game and got the result goes a long way.

#11 from sporting is an amazing player.. but I’m talking 5 starters out, and 2 with ACLs from Beach. You can’t tell me to give credit when you just lost 3-0 to LA breakers bud beating a wounded Beach team with a weak schedule coming after that against Heat, Pats and Rebels for your next 3 matches. Pump the breaks bud and consider yourselves lucky.

2 ACL injuries on a U14 team...

Hmmm....

Again…give some credit dude!! They give you lemons, then make lemonade… every team recruits for that reason.. roster 18 or like other teams 20+ to plan against injuries or other reasons a player can’t make games.. there’s a lot of hate towards sporting around.. even if it means picking on teenage girls.. good job to you sir..

WARNING @RobbieNorwood watch what you ask on here... Ask the wrong question and you will get grilled. I came on here a few years ago with a simple question that turned into tidal wave of posts & comments. All I was looking for was finding the right environment for my DD and ideas on fixing the issues I saw on the old team. I've finally found the right environment. I've been quiet on the sidelines with not much to say anymore since she's quite challenged now and is no longer the best player on the team... Having her hang is enough for me now as it will only get harder from here on out.
