How’s the 2023-24 season going?

I can't argue with that Luis. The San Jose Earthquakes Girls 04 (Old Force Team) team of yesterday was also one of the top possession programs in the country back when my dd was U13. Surf was #1. I think MLVA was called Barcelona if I'm not mistaken and were very good but lacked the athletes to be top team. Today, it's Surf top and MLVA #2 regarding the right way to play.
Quakes girls program have gone through a ton of changes since 04. I think they've had at least four or five different name since then.

They're Bay Area Surf now. A decent mid level ECNL team, but not up there with SD Surf.

It would be interesting to see how many played for Surf and left on a specific team over a ten year span.

I don't know the numbers, but its most certainly very small. Probably 1-2 tops on average. I do know that the number for the 2010s is zero. In terms of u-little origins, Surf's current 2010 team is essentially SDSC A + a couple from the B team + Albion's top 3-4 players + a few outside fillers. Since the folding of the DA in 2020 though and the destruction of any sort of club parity in San Diego, I'd expect the number of home grown Surf players will grow in future years.

But this can be said for most top clubs once the 11v11 game hits however. Those clubs are rarely starting points and mainly destinations for parents who realize their kiddo is really good at soccer (and some that wish they were).

USWNT players? This is the 2010 board. Did you think WNT was going to select a 12 year old?

I agree with you that my dd is clearly qualified. Just give USSF some time to pick a new coach before asking why they haven't called yet.
Reading is fundamental homie. I was replying to @crush referencing the alleged 2004 possession teams.

I know of 3 that left Surf G2010 + I'm not even going back very far. Not sure what you're trying to relay.

Either way it doesn't matter. I just thought it would be an interesting statistic. 3 leaving is pretty normal for any team at this age.

in 2016, the Force was probably #1 and 100% a force to wrecking with. We did a friendly with them in early 2016 and they got over on us. Yes, we were missing a couple top goats that day, but I need to be honest, they beat us that day. Plus, our GK was sick and not playing her best so they hurt us as well. We never got to play against each other again because Deza took his talents over to the Quakes mid season and the Force was dismantled right before State Cup. I was bummed. Our Surf team won the Natty in 2017 Zeke, and I can say 100% having that Force team disqualified, was a huge break for our softer, yet better at possession Surf team. Yes, our Surf Team was not only #1 in 2017, we were also #1 at Possession in the whole country. No one can dispute me on that FACT. Dre wants video proof and that's the best proof, but my eyes also saw what I saw, and the run Surf made in 2017 was magical. It brought the 10th Natty to that wonderful club, that produces the best players ever in the world. Now that Deza is at Surf, watch out is all I can. To add proof to more of my pudding, Deza went up to my goat after a match and gave her a high five and said, "you play the game the right way little goat." Another scout said my goat is going places, as long as she obeys.
Okay Fam, I get that you don’t have video proof. But, can we play a game of “where are they now?”

Where are those alleged ballers that you speak so highly of now?

I've been trying to hunt down the video of big match between SD Surf and Earthquakes in 2018. That game had possession with some high full court pressure on the Quakes. It's how we won the match Dre. Word spread fast that Surf was crown #1 possession team ever based on that victory alone. Anyone on here got old GDA video from that match? Dre wants proof. I will say, from that match alone we had 8 or 9 YNT call ups. Players are now playing for UCLA, Stanford, Notre Dame, Florida State, North Carolina, Cal, Ohio State, North Carolina State, Miami to name just a few. I see probably 5 or 6 from that group going Pro.
Specifics please. Give names as we are talking about adults.

There all playing college ball Dre. I just gave the list of the schools. They all can ball and play possession. That does mean the college team they're on today is playing possession. Stanford plays the game the right way and if I'm not mistaken, a few from that epic match are on that team. Stanford hands down is #1 at possession in college.

Correct, MVLA and Barcelona were never linked, as far as I know. Barcelona, Liverpool FC, SJ Earthquakes Girls DA program, and Star Academy all were brought together to create FC Bay Area Surf, while additional clubs have continued to be added since to FC Bay Area's program. (link) They have a strong program on the girls and boys side - showing slightly stronger on the boys side for a few seasons (currently #11 in CA for boys, #18 on girls side). As shared above, the mothership at SD Surf is noticeably more advanced: #1 Girls CA, #3 Boys CA. This is out of ~250 rated boys clubs in CA, ~175 rated girls clubs.

Last year, Stanford played some beautiful ball. This year, they run right at you and mess you up. More hard tackles and less ball movement.

Santa Clara is more fun to watch.

Agreed.

Santa Clara plays better possession ball than Stanford. Played through Stanfords press all game long, made a couple of mistakes and got punished. Stanford press was very impressive, but they aren't the best possession team in the bay area.

you must be an ECNL advocate. I can totally tell. I’m still sticking to my gut decision of pulling her out of this league. Why don’t you bring your DD and have her go against mine 1v1 and then we can talk payaso… I got $1000 bucks on it. BTW I don’t post on this thread anymore but you all keep @ mentioning me. So leave me alone and don’t waste my time. If you got something to prove let’s go or bring me your best 2010… We can film it too. I walk my talk.

Would you say your DD would score 100% of the time on any 2010 girl defender out there? I would say using those little 4 foot goals in about 1/4 of the pitch? What’s the $1000 challenge?

I was talking about last years and years past. I have not seen them play this year. Good on Santa Clara :)
