How’s the 2023-24 season going?

OMG!! My bad. 3!!!!! My lord I was just thinking SoCal though and I just know the one and it was because they got some deal or something to stay/join. Don’t know the real details.
Talked to an old head about this out of bored curiosity and got a lot of intel to share and have y’all fact check. It sounds like that club jumped at the so cal opportunity to form 2 ECNL teams at a time when one so cal flight needed a new team because another dropped. I guess it’s not that uncommon throughout all of the ECNL conferences, but each team/sub club has to be treated like its own separate club for purposes of club awards and player mobility. So if a club has sub clubs with 3 ECNL teams, one player has to remain with one of the three subs but can can move between ECNL and ECRL, and/or between age groups, each game day but players can only play one game a day. Did I get it right?

To
@Carlsbad7 stop fooling yourself GA is in no way closing the gap and the fact that you play GA is your way of validating that then good for you.

To
@Surfer_dad nothing is going on at surf other then they got better when you left the team so the win over Koge must have tasted really bitter.

To
@Luis Andres this guy can disappear he is the typical parent who thinks his player is way better then they really are

all 3 of these people should be embarrassed to show there faces anywhere much less voice any opinions they might have
Mic drop

you must be an ECNL advocate. I can totally tell. I’m still sticking to my gut decision of pulling her out of this league. Why don’t you bring your DD and have her go against mine 1v1 and then we can talk payaso… I got $1000 bucks on it. BTW I don’t post on this thread anymore but you all keep @ mentioning me. So leave me alone and don’t waste my time. If you got something to prove let’s go or bring me your best 2010… We can film it too. I walk my talk.

To jump back a few pages, it looks like TopHat 2010G had another iffy weekend, losing to a GA team that barely breaks the top 100. A new feature of SR can help put some of this in perspective, and help provide more data about the schedule strength that teams are dealing with. First, here's what TH 2010G looks like now:

tophat1.jpgtophat2.jpg

You can see the loss against West Florida, and you can also see that their schedule over the past year is ranked 54th strongest in the country, but still is the 4th strongest schedule of any 2010G team in their state.

Counter that against some of the other top teams like Koge and Surf:

slammers.jpgsurf1.jpg

showing the toughest and 2nd toughest schedule in the country. One interesting data point is then looking at the #1 team, MVLA:

mvla.jpgmvla2.jpg

They are doing that against the 25th strongest schedule in the country - Norcal ECNL appears to be a much easier league than SoCal ECNL, and the ratings and the results bear that out. (MVLA is averaging over 8 goals a game, they haven't been scored on yet over 5 games)

Don’t ever leave…. or change

Fixed the terminology, but, yeah, that's the gist. The additonal caveats are that if a player moves between programs, it's a one way trip and they can only move two per age group per year between programs.

I like the 1 v 1 challenge the best Luis. I challenged a few dads on here in 2018 to the U14 YNT v The Rest of Best of Socal that was left off. Basically, U14 YNT v Socal Players that were tricked, snubbed or Dad didn't play, pay for play the right way. Never piss off a Doc or coach with access and influences is the Crush recommendation of the day.

hmm that would be interesting to witness. I'm sure there were many favors to get some players on this latest list. Politics always gets in the way disturbing the true essence of being admitted on real talent and merit. So I know that Cal South controls ODP and I hear that ECNL controls PDP? Am I right? Seems like ECNL is winning the dog race on the girls side and they control & influence many things today. This is all new for me as I learn to navigate the landscape. My opinion still remains the same regarding ECNL and developement of women's soccer in the near future. The European girls model will be superior & ahead of ECNL in terms of developing the right soccer players that can play with their brain first and use their technical and athletic toolset to gain an edge over others. First Clubs must change and then ECNL will be better for development purposes. But it all starts with the clubs if we want to develop the right soccer players that will make the USA competitive vs European teams.

Coming from a mathematical background. To truly grasp calculus, a strong foundation in algebra is indispensable. Similarly, in soccer development, there are critical steps to follow. By mastering each preceding stage, a player not only hones their skills but also evolves into a more cerebral and strategic player on the field.

In the landscape of girls' soccer clubs, San Diego Surf and MVLA stand out as the gold standard in girls soccer for me. Were we situated nearer to either of these esteemed clubs, they would unquestionably be our top choices for consideration. Soccer development, akin to mastering math, hinges on a robust grasp of the fundamentals. These clubs exemplify that principle to its fullest

I can't argue with that Luis. The San Jose Earthquakes Girls 04 (Old Force Team) team of yesterday was also one of the top possession programs in the country back when my dd was U13. Surf was #1. I think MLVA was called Barcelona if I'm not mistaken and were very good but lacked the athletes to be top team. Today, it's Surf top and MLVA #2 regarding the right way to play.

100% Agreed...

What are the rest of the top teams playing these days?

Is our primary metric wins or development? In terms of wins... Without naming names, there are clubs out there that put a singular emphasis on securing victories, often at the expense of consistent player development. In such clubs, whether or not a player truly develops hinges on the luck of the draw — specifically, whether they end up with a coach who values growth over glory. When fortunate, players are mentored by someone who understands the importance of nurturing skills and teaching youth soccer the right way. However, in other cases, they might find themselves under the guidance of a coach who prioritizes wins — a strategy often driven by attracting parents for recruiting purposes rather than genuinely benefitting the players. What's frustrating about such clubs is the glaring absence of a clear structure and fundamental strategy dedicated to the steady progression of their players. Instead, it's a game of chance: you get what they offer, for better or for worse.

How do you measure development?

I don't adhere to the cult of one right way to play or to coach players. Just as there are many wrong ways, there are many right ways.

There's positives and negatives to Surf.

Yes they're very good, yes they're a top posession team, yes they have quality coaches and good fields.

If your kid is top of the pack and super aggressive from ulittle all the way to olders, you're ok dealing with the most ridiculous parent social games, you're ok with Surf constantly recruiting from local and remote teams (because some will actually move to play on Surf) it's the place to be.

It would be interesting to see how many played for Surf and left on a specific team over a ten year span. Not trying to imply anything negative. Surf is what it is + most players and parents know what they're getting into when they join a team.

Damn that noise! You sound like a Fan-Boy to me. I got at Deza, Porras, & Montoya and neither had anything.

Please post videos of these players allegedly playing the right way. Why haven’t those players you referenced made it to USWNT and improved their style of play?

I see players from these teams post videos on youtube and invariably it’s kids over-dribbling and playing heroball/kickball.

Gee thanks Dre. Long time no chat with bro. I agree that my satire went over the top and I apologize. I have no videos to prove my worth.
