G2010...how’s the season going 2019?

@Luis Andres where you from dude? I have a buddy from Brazil and Grandpa to talk with about how real soccer is played in other countries. They don't understand the pay as you play here in da states. Please enlighten us amigos how Gods game shall be played oh great one...….these dads beat our das back in the day. No way we can compete. This is new batch of daddy. BTW, my dd tells me to shut up. Sunday my wife told my goat, "keep trying, your amazing" after she let her team down by not finishing her ankle break away. She looked right her and said, "please stop mom, that not amazing........No joke...…......….. I love my kid :)

Chi Chi Chi Le Le Le ... viva Chile

I’m telling you, these Eagles dudes choked each other out. It was crazy, sad though, cause these little girls ran off the field screaming scared. Remember, most of these girls won’t be playing in 4-5 years. They go through “female” changes and quit out of no where. Everyone is guilty of thinking their daughter is the next USWNT player.
This is 100% Truth Speak. The age to fool us dads and kids is around u10-u11 but maybe earlier now. I'm watching mine change right before my very eyes and its awesome but it's also true they will decide. I love how females are. I thought I could teach mine to play like a boy, oh boy, no way. This is all nonsense and I think I'm helping Luis. It's my mission to calm him down and help build Ole into a local powerhouse. Stay Local and play local!!! Let the girls be girls and girls :)

@Sockers858 or anyone else. So now that the tables have been turned. What is your prediction for the 2 teams that make into the finals?

Predictions
Blues vs Ole
Surf vs Blues
SD Surf normally plays Blues in a tight game except the last game.

With Blues Tryouts finishing a couple of weeks ago, I can see them with some new faces on the sidelines. I’m just guessing though and RR is always in recruiting

Utah Surf BB won their last tournament and either been finalist or championship in tournaments this year. They have lost in pool play and bounced back to win or be runners up. A different Utah team came to Surf Cup last summer and got smashed.

Sitting in bed getting ready to go to sleep but I can’t. Got the Eagles game on my head right now, like if I’m the one that’s gonna be playing it o_O

@Luis, despite what you think, it's a bad sign when you are laying awake at night fretting over your 9 year old's soccer game. It means you are way too involved and living vicariously through your DD. I know that you think you are helping your DD with extra training, analyzing games with her and everything else you've mentioned in many posts, but most of the experts would disagree with you.

Please take a look at these articles, just a few I've found helpful in changing the way I interact with my DD. I'm still not perfect, it's really hard, but I think I'm much better at U14 than I was at U10. It's a long road with many twists and turns. My DD's been playing club soccer at a high level since she was U8, and she still has 4+ years before she potentially steps on a college field (if that's what she wants). It's a marathon.

From the first article:

"Hundreds of college athletes were asked to think back: "What is your worst memory from playing youth and high school sports?"
Their overwhelming response: "The ride home from games with my parents."

"The informal survey lasted three decades, initiated by two former longtime coaches who over time became staunch advocates for the player, for the adolescent, for the child. Bruce E. Brown and Rob Miller of Proactive Coaching LLC are devoted to helping adults avoid becoming a nightmare sports parent, speaking at colleges, high schools and youth leagues to more than a million athletes, coaches and parents in the last 12 years.

"Those same college athletes were asked what their parents said that made them feel great, that amplified their joy during and after a ballgame. Their overwhelming response: "I love to watch you play."

The problem w/Surf is they have 4 girls on the bench and they all get equal time. The girls get in a rhythm and then gets witches out, no chance to get momentum. If they want to play to win. They need to not be fair in these games with the equal time.

You are right on the money with this! I would rather put my $ into academics, than putting all my eggs a scholarship. I’m sure that’s not the case with Luis, driving his GT!!

RR is the man. Hardest worker I know. Never hides and is always in plain site. Makes many parents of teams with top goats upset because their trying to recruit and sell their services.

Blues v Ole is the likely final, but things can always happen you don't expect. It's a shame this tournament got neutered. I was looking forward to a couple of the matchups .. particularly SDSC vs Surf and Ole who have never played each other.

I’d fault the long bench more than anything. 11 is too many for 7v7. 9 or 10 is plenty. If you need, you can always give someone a chance to guest up.

Sorry for all the typos, hope you can decode. Damn IPhone autocorrect. Switches, or witches!

my daughter is also a very good student. Not a wiz of any sort but definitely above average. The first thing she does after school is finish her homework and then it’s soccer after that. She does have a life. She gets to go on play dates and spend time with her friends. It’s not like she’s doing soccer all day either. She trains for 1 hour a day and 1.5 hours a week twice with her team. She plays games on weekends with her team and or the other hispanic league where she plays up learning more about possession soccer. I don’t force her to do any of these things. She likes it or I can say grown to like to train daily. If for some reason she misses a day because I or her mom are just way too busy she gets on our case for not taking her to train. She does not watch full games on tv yet but will look at clips on Instagram or YouTube on her own. And loves to be on Tik Tok

I’m so disappointed we are not playing SDSC. For me, having the chance to see them play our team would have been the highlight of the tournament.

I’ve learned to not critique her anymore. That was the old me. I just let her do her thing and if I notice mistakes in her game or her teammates, I try to get her to answer how she would correct them without overwhelming her or making her upset. I’m always looking fo short videos on YouTube to watch and she gladly accepts them. I will read these articles and I hope they are not bias. Anyone that says you don’t have to work hard or train daily to become a pro is a fool. But one cannot forcé their kids into anything. So as long as she is willing, I will do everything in my power to support her. I’ll spend whatever it takes to get her the best training possible. Don’t care for scholarships or any of that stuff if it means sacrificing her development. I’m just here to give her the best development experience possible and support her as long as she is willing. If she decides later that she does not want to continue training daily then I will support her as well. It’s her choice not mine.

@Socal00 I know I speak highly of my DD but she is not the sole reason why our team is good. The other players are also amazing, we have a really good team and it’s not about my DD alone either. She brings that right balance to the midfield and defense to make the team work. Our strikers are explosive and fast. And our defenders are solid. Bench is getting there improving weekly. You can’t win games with 1 player in flight 1.

I hear you! It does make a difference when a team has that one girl who stands out from all the rest. I had a reality check when I thought that was my kid until I saw these SoCal teams. Hence she’s run of the mill good. Solid player. Smart, but inconsistent. Frustrating to watch. No one is perfect, we’re all human and she’s 9. I’ll continue to foster her love of the game. She’ll eventually be weeded out of this team, unless the more skilled players leave. Either way I enjoy watching her grow. I’ll tell you what though, I’m not down with parents bashing little girls including mine. I have news for all us football loving parents, there is always stronger, faster, smarter people, in any spectrum of life. I always tell him do your best and try to be the best in your group, wether school, sports, attitude and as a person. Be a good human Being. My little one is dope in my eyes. Anyway enough with the rambling.

I totally agree. I thought I was fast when I was young doing track until I went against the African Americans on the 100m dash. My DD is fast too but I’m sure there are girls that are faster. The one thing that I think is her super strength. Is her stamina. She can play the whole game, run twice the amount of distance over the rest of the players on the field going up and down, defense to offense and back to defense over the course of the game with the same intensity, while the rest of the girls are gassed out by end of the game. You can see them huffin and puffin and she’s good. That is genetics and that does not come from me. It’s from her mom and grandpa. There is a reason why grandpa still holds cycling endurance records set In the 70’s in Colombia. They are known for that sport and he is one of the legends of the sport over there. Even with all the doping going on these days. His endurance records have not been broken.

So, my buddy, solid source said 3 of our SDSC girls have been practicing with the SD Surf team for the past several weeks, and purple headband is one of them. She’s a legit player. I’m bugged....

so they are leaving SDSC and going to surf or guest playing for tournament ?

Don’t think they’re guest playing because they have a roster of 11. I think the girls are jumping ship. Surfs known for making offers one can’t refuse. Especially when they capitalize on them having a DA team for girls and SDSC doesn’t.

Also, coach wasn’t sure he was going to coach this past season, because he had a baby. He stuck around, but he might be done too. No formal word on that though.
