G2010...how’s the season going 2019?

Good luck with all that "lateral running". Shes gonna get chewed up if she hangs on to the ball and tries to go around. Blues too fast for that.

Every time I see the blues play seems to be different, sometimes direct as heck, against lesser teams RR has them passing like crazy. I expect you'll see the direct game tomorrow
RR brings that English toughness to the girls side of the game.

No trolling here. Just cruising by in my 64. But would like to add to the coaching conversation at Surf in that age group. AB plays a more direct game and has typically picked athletic and players with pace. Having seen Surf coaches from U8 to DA not all are inline with possession.

There is nothing wrong with direct ball. For some of you to call it kickball is a shame and a disrespect to the English who by the way invented the sport. It involves a lot more than just kicking the ball. Playing through narrow gaps with the ball on the ground could be difficult and so one alternative is achieved by playing lofted passes into the front line for a target player to knock down to ring-fencing midfielders. This is to say that when the lofted ball is played towards the target player, teammates will anticipate the destination of the knock down and move into the pocket of space to receive the ball, thus evading the opponent’s midfield screening block. Now that one of the two defensive lines has been escaped, the team in possession is in a position to either shoot or play through balls between the back line, who are now likely to be more disorganized. Particularly because the defenders will have been attracted to the ball during the initial lofted pass, leaving the surrounding space more open and unsettling the defence in general.

A common sight in English football, defenders are also adept at playing this role. Their physical presence, coupled with their aerial ability makes them difficult for opposing defenders to play against. One famous example was when Sam Allardyce played Christopher Samba as a make-shift centre forward during their time at Blackburn Rovers. Samba had built a reputation for being a tough tackling defender while Allardyce had gained the tag of ‘long-ball specialist’. More recently, West Brom have used the technique from goal kicks. Having said that one must respect the English style of football because it does require strategy mixed with athleticism and speed of play. 2-3 touches and the ball is in the net.

This is how the English play direct ball and how to destroy tiki-taka. The direct ball style of soccer thrives on the counter attack. It may not be pretty but it is effective.

English and Germans have been very successful playing this style of soccer. There is nothing wrong with it if you have the right players to make it work. One cannot discredit Blues or any other team that adopts this style of soccer and say that they are not successful. The proof is in the pudding.

Legends beat Slammers PA. Legends dominated start to finish but didn’t execute and score their chances. Legends Clearly had 10 or more clear goal scoring chances each half and slammers defended extremely well and either had defenders make crucial blocks, keeper making big time saves, or shots hitting crossbar or going just wide. Slammers sat in hoping to counter out and I believe had 2 shots the entire game. Slammers is much improved though and will make noise in state cup. Eagles beat slammers PA 4-1 but it was 1-1 at half with slammers clearly having more chances to score. Second half eagles had a pk and a Great outside shot and slammers played much of their bench more minutes. Eagles just beat slammers Crowley only 1-0 so I’m a little surprised at that score line.

Definitely an inaccurate report of this game. It was a pretty even game but Slammers looked way more skilled than Legends. Legends has some major actresses taking dives all game...that’s what happens when you watch too much men’s soccer!

Typical of Eagles to not over run the score when they have the game under control and do not feel the other team is a threat. However I do think that 1-0 is cutting it close. Slammers PA have good defense. It was a similar situation when we played them over the summer. We got surprised with a direct ball and long shot from the outside by their striker and towards the end of the game they threw a long ball behind the midfield and it bounced over the goalies head. While we had most of the attempts and shots at goal with possession of the ball. Soccer is an unfair sport. You can do everything right for the whole game and be so close to scoring yet miss. But it takes 1 breakdown from the team or a mistake and the team that did not deserve to win gets the win. Congratulations to your Legends team and good luck tomorrow. I'm sure you guys have a great squad and I can't wait until our teams play each other.

You beat any team by scoring more goals than the other team and playing stellar defense. J/K. Just play your game and capitalize on your chances. Surf had great chances but did finish. It should be a great game and good luck to all.

Interesting. Could you explain how many shots slammers had vs legends? Also, amount of time the ball was in legends half as opposed to being in slammers half? Again, slammers played fantastic defensively and I think there were maybe 4 fouls called the entire game. So I’m curious as to why you even say there was diving going on? Just facts stated. Legends outshot slammers PA and ball was in slammers half 3/4 of the game. There’s no denying that.

Idk if I’d agree with that as eagles did run the score up 12-0 in the tournament already. So I doubt they’d be ok with 1-0 in a semifinal game. Would be curious to hear if anyone watched that game.

Just because a team had more shots on goal does not mean they dominated the game. Slammers passing and ability to play smart soccer was far better than Legends. Slammers technically scored in the second half...it was called offside but the call was debatable.

Interesting. Think slammers gave the ball to the big center back majority of the game to send a long ball up to the forward majority of the game which legends won and then connected majority of the time leading to opportunities at goal. Legends against blues. Legends matches up well. The big center mid for blues was a non factor both games and legends has very good forwards and against blues they play very physical and can match it and definitely have connecting play between the forwards. SDSC is a tougher matchup. SDSC plays beautifully soccer and extremely technical. I think they have some special players and win the matchup against legends. However, blues beats SDSC, SDSC beats legends, legends beats blues. They are the top 3 teams with slammers PA in every game against those teams and even beat legends 2-1 in league and tied SDSC I believe as well and lost to blues 2-1? I’m pretty sure.

When my goat played against Slammers Alvarez u10 back 5 years ago, my dd was the queen for getting the PKs in the box. Big, slow defenders couldn't catch her so they tripped or mugged her every time and every time the ref would call, "Foul" and every time I would come on here there would be some Slammers parent whining and calling my little baby a "cry baby actress" and it pissed me off. One foot smaller then all the rest of the goats but too quick to catch so they whacked her. Her coach told her to stay down and cry to get the call. Isn't that what they teach the pros?

Obviously your looking at this literally.
You’re missing my point, Surf isn’t developing, they are picking the athletic players trained by clubs who put in the work. Eventually, they’ve collected the players and Alas your almighty DA teams. Their select team has good players from different clubs, but can’t put it together to win, why is that?

Maybe, just maybe girls can develop themselves with the help of teammates and coaches? Soccer isn't that hard to figure out folks. We act like we need all these "coaches" to teach us a simple game. Surf recruits other clubs top goats and offers many of them full rides or they buy clubs to be #1 in the country.

SDSC played Slammers once in league this season and won that game, but it was close if i recall. 2 to 1 maybe? Slammers plays a very defensive counter attack game, or the closest thing to it at this age on the small field. Solid team with a good core of kids. SDSCs draw came against LAGOC oddly enough. Stuff happens.

Good luck to all the girls who have games tomorrow!

How does that explain the 12-0 Eagles vs Legends black? They did mind running up the score in those poor girls.
