G2010 - How’s the 2022 season going?

Let me tell you what the upside is for the Southern California Blues. NO MORE TRAVEL!! I know one of the Founders and I can say they never wanted to do the travel leagues. The Grooming Develop Academy (GDA) forced all the girls to travel across the country to beat up on teams and if they said no, they were kicked out, especially the ones who went to public school. Blues was 100% a no and even tried to persuade the fools at the top of GDA that it was not healthy for the kids and super expensive for the average family in Socal at big meetings. They were told to fu*k off and pay up or lose their business.
I'm with the thought process. Traveling to play teams that are exactly the same or worse than teams 30 minutes to an hour away makes no sense.

GA allows players to play HS now. They realized the mistake DA made and arent following in their footsteps. However the GA schedule does make playing in HS nearly impossible. (Which is probabaly the plan)

I guess if Blues did GA + participated in all the local SoCal ECNL Club tournaments theyd get the same results as they're getting now in ECNL. Also it would be easy to roll through Southwest GA except for 1-2 teams. Wins = easier to recruit players.

How so? From what I saw, the GA schedule broke for the high school season, and resumes this month.

I believe California HS Soccer season is November to March.

U15 GA Southwest held (some) league games + clubs practiced during this time.

The overlap wasnt huge but there would likely be situations where players had to make a choice between Club and HS.

I've never heard of a GA club in Southwest saying no to players playing for their HS. Also I've never heard of a GA club saying no to Futsal. I have heard of GA clubs saying no to guesting at other clubs.

Missing teams is simply because ECNL's software sucks....every off season this happens and a team for two disappears....nothing is going on with Blues and nobody is choosing to leave the ECNL.....though there is an AZ club that's getting booted.....

Sporting 2-0 over Breakers
Blues 2-1 over LAFC

Blues 3-1 over Sporting. Blues using a couple of key NL guests and Sporting will be missing a couple of pieces this weekend and a depleted bench.

Question… why are ECNL teams in State Cup? I thought Nationals were for ECNL. That’s a tricky situation.
Could it be that Sporting wants to repeat as champions? Or LAFC trying to atone for their lost to Sporting? Or is it that the only true team here is a 2011 Blues ‘Pre ECNL’ team??? The plot thickens

In the eyes of 2010 ECNL teams this is probably just a tournament where these teams can potentially win. No way these teams win ECNL nationals (or may not even qualify for playoffs)...so this is an opportunity for teams to bring home hardware. Plus the timing works out where ECNL league play is on pause from Dec - Mar. The danger to this though is if an ECNL team gets bounced out early by a non-ECNL team which ends up not being a good look for the team.

Because everyone that is outside of ECNL/GA is convinced that the teams are at the same level of play as NPL/Premier teams; lot of smack talking about wasting money to participate in ECNL/GA, for the same challenge as local play. SOCAL probably didn't expect such lopsided results, but they should have known better. State Cup provides one of the few events to get a true unbiased head-to-head opportunity against teams in any league. It's a bit disappointing some GA teams didn't show up. Probably due to State Cup play being drawn out way too long.

Looks like most ECNL teams don’t participate but that is by choice. I guess that’s why they have players available to loan to their younger teams playing up a year (like Blues). But there appears to be so much loaning and guesting in state cup, it’s hard to say it’s a true gauge of the participating teams.

I‘m no fan of ECNL teams looking down on the rest of the world, but they do have a point. For them, the first round mismatches look like a complete waste of time.

If organizers want the strong teams to join state cup, they should create a system for earning first and second round byes. Maybe last year’s semi-finalists get a free pass to the round of 16.

So kind of like a regular tournamant?

Maybe they could hold it I the middle of the summer on the Polo Fields in SD + call it Surf Cup?

;-)

The ECNL teams in it, from the two sidelines I spoke to, said their coach said they entered them as a kind of pre-season for part two of the ECNL league season so I doubt there are many guests for the age appropriate teams but maybe somebody could get hold of rosters....I guess entering this is easier for the coaches than trying to schedule scrimmages and deal with plans falling through....logic makes sense.....anyways semi finals is 3 ECNL teams and a pre-ECNL team....says it all......
