'23-'24 SoCal and National Forecast and Updates

Two other things I noticed. Koge got a great draw. Charlotte will test them but I don’t think they can pull out an upset.

Utah’s bracket is a complete toss up more so than any other.

All of the other brackets seem to have at least two or even three quality teams.

Koge and Real Colorado are the only two teams I feel confident in or would bet on making it out of group play.

I few games that I’d like to watch:
1. Beach vs Penn Fusion
2. PDA vs Arizona
3. Surf vs MVLA
4. Solar/SK/Legends
5. VDA vs FC Dallas
6. Real Colorado vs SUSA
Crazy that Blues was a top 8 Finals team last year and this year not even in the playoffs.

If KC moves their 09s down off the 08 team they will have more depth and bench strength.

Legends and San Juan will not pull down their 2009 girls who play for their older teams.
San Juan doesn't do well on set plays so taking advantage of their lack of organziation is key to beating them. It seems to be a club thing for them too.

Two of USYNT 09s came back from Germany with knee injuries.
The rest of those kids, plus the ones in Mexico (as of yesterday) will show up to Seattle with zero time off which isn't ideal for the team, of the individual player. I'd guess that most of these kids probably entered those camps overtrained and exited camp more overtrained as well.

There are a handful of other kids who are recently out due to knees. Surf, San Juan recently had players injured.

Nvm, got my answer.
Was it an error? Did the 4th seed really beat the one seed that bad? If so… that means there were few other 4’s beating 1’s yesterday. Maybe the ECNL seeding can look at a strength of schedule seeding for next year.

Not an error. Surf neatly dismantled them.

Strength of schedule seeding would help a lot. Just use conference results to determine who goes, then use SR to set up the brackets.

The other factor is last minute roster additions and deletions. You could "fix" the additions, but any solution would undermine the league's ability to put high skill kids in front of college scouts. Not worth it.

If you can keep MVLA out of their style of play its usually game over for them. But, a 0-5 loss is out of character for this matchup.
Both teams were down a few players to injuries prior to the game but i doubt that had anything to do with the score.

I was surprised by the result as well. I know that when a team that is used to winning and rarely loses gets put under pressure and falls behind, things can get ugly quick, espescially if a team has a few "me me me" players. Soccer is a team sport.

Matchfit (NA), La Roca (NW), Sporting Blue Valley (MW), Ohio Elite (OV), Atlanta Fire (SE), Alabama (SE), UFA (SE), NC Courage (MA) and Charlotte(MA) have been eliminated. The Southeast division is having an ugly showing and that is putting it lightly. All SE teams could be eliminated by the end of the day.

The winner of the Southwest Mojave(Beach) and Sonoran(Arsenal) are very close to being eliminated as well... the odds are not in their favor going into tomorrow.

The two 4th seeds (Koge and Surf) from the SW are leading their groups with no goals against.

Soccer is a team sport 100% and that's why the best teams usually win come tournament time. "Me, me, pass me the ball," helps the "Me Player" but hurts the team.

Surf at a 4 seed is a farce. Surf at a 4 seed in group B is even more ridiculous. Technically, they would be 43 of 44 seeds in a snake draw. Playing them today, they are my favorite for the event. Muncho props to them, they are as complete as they come!

Another parent also told me Surf was missing their starting winger and their US Youth National Team outside back.

yea..both with knees.
its a bad deal for sure. San Juan, Legends also have kids out with knees just in the last 3 weeks.

The 09 USYNT has already had 2 domestic and 1 international camp. Out of all those kids, maybe 30-35 total, 5 of them are, or have been, out for serious knee injuries (ie.. requiring surgery)

Yikes. Just heard about PDA and USYNT star player getting a red card yesterday. Bicycle kick straight to the face of a Sporting Blue Valley Player.

Wonder what the rules are of Red Card? Good news for FC Dallas.
