Looking at the results, I think so. SUSA came away with 5 points so that will pretty much take care of all the teams that are 1-1-1 but we'll see.

Utah-AZ still has a chance if Seattle and Eclipse tie...

Koge and VDA are set to face off in the first round. I had a feeling VDA would pull through however I am going to go ahead and predict Koge moves through this game in PKs. VDA has a very strong defense regardless of Mack and Co. VDA's only hope is to get the win during regulation time IMO. Both teams have USYNT players.

2009 seems to be a broken record with SoCal, North Atlantic and Texas making it through to the round of 16. Looks likely to see Surf/Solar/PDA in the final but upsets happen.

There is no Mack and company since fall season. Koge though have mostly same girls as last year.

It was actually the ball that hit the defender's face and the SBV coach went to the referee area with the PDA coaches to appeal the red card.

Yikes. Tough angle to see. Regardless, Bicycle (high) kick in between two players could be seen as a reckless and dangerous play. Where is the resident SoCalSoccer referee here? LOL. By the way, the other PDA player standing next to her has the mouth of a sailor 🤣 Always fun to hear what comes out of that one. Good player though.

I think the general rule is if a cleat hits another players head regardless of the type of kick its going to be a yellow at a minimum. The red probably came into play because the kick seemed unnecessary.

Kinda proud of this prediction. Koge ends up moving forward after advancing on PKs. Wow.

Next bold prediction is VDA wins National Championship next if the team stays healthy. Cash it in now. Adding 2 USYNT players and 2 other quality players. Whoever benefits the most from Blues falling apart will be in the Championship with them.

I saw Solar 1-0 final; PDA 1-0 over Utah whose incessant fouls finally resulted in a free kick -tip to goal; Real Colorado lost to KC in PKs; Surf looked unbeatable and it was at least 3-0.

Should also be noted the Mid West Division put 2 out 5 teams through as well.

Southeast, Mid Atlantic, New England, Northwest, NorCal, and Ohio Valley did not manage to get a single team through to finals. Finals is not an easy task!

Already predicting next year’s championship game before the quarterfinals are even played?

Out in Seattle VDA has earned a bad rep for being goons with 5-10 yellow cards every match.

Not part of the team or even in VDA’s division. Just know the new coach and players pretty well.

Not sure how long you have been around but I didn’t predict a winner this year just teams I thought would make it. Picked PDA last year before the season started and Solar the year before that…

So yeah, I am predicting VDA wins next year no matter how many yellow cards. Unfortunately dirty play sometimes gets the job done as we just saw with USMNT.

VDA 09s have certainly has a bad reputation out here as well for dirty play. The new coach is not going to stand for that next year. He was National Club Coach of the year for 2023 and has only been with VDA a couple of months during High School season.

Again, I’m not picking VDA just because they are somewhat close to my home, I am picking them for everything else except that reason. Just like I would pick Koge if they do in fact land the top Blues players.

I would like to hear your thoughts or predictions for this years Finals? Which side of the bracket looks more difficult? Who do you think is the favorite? Also, do you have a sleeper pic?

I think Surf and PDA are the teams to beat. Toss up. I have Solar 3rd. I have not seen how the brackets line up yet however so no idea who is playing each other or what road they have to take.

Not sure if I could call anyone a sleeper. All of these teams that made it through really do have a chance to go all the way. It’s a very solid group of teams and I honestly would not be too surprised if PDA/Surf/Solar don’t make it to the final.

The biggest surprise to me was MVLA’s performance. Unless they suffered some injuries, I thought they were going to be in the discussion at this point.
