How’s the 2023-24 season going?

@Veritas you're extremely with MVLA.. do you think they can take down the Mighty Surf? I know they beat them on the finals but I wonder if you can project call that game either way..

it will definitely be a good game. Last year MVLA had #15 the striker guest play with 10’s during playoffs. If she is not with MVLA 10’s this season then their offense takes a hit and advantage goes to Surf as she drove a lot of the offense for MVLA in playoffs last season.

We could just wait for Monday and see how they do against Beach, Breakers, and Eagles.

(It's like MVLA get to be honorary members of Mojave for a weekend. Should be fun.)

Any other games you think should be good?

MVLA is a team a to watch. They do not need one player to make or break them. None of these Ecnl teams survive with just one top player. They all have great talent

I totally agree but when you have 2 teams that are pretty much evenly matched. 1 solid player could make the difference. Especially a striker.

mVLA is beautiful to watch - always enjoy getting a chance to watch any age group and the coaches are classy. Good luck everyone out there - enjoy the weekend.

My buddy shared that Slammers FC should win the ‘People’s Champ Award’ for being undefeated and disrespected as their club’s ‘B’ team. I heard they stuck it to the ‘A’ team and now showing up strong like Clipper fans, pounding their chests.. LOL. I wonder if they can appeal the schedulers to play MVLA.. again, they’re the MTV Choice Award, I mean People (Paper) Champs LOL.. so I’m told

One of my dd old teams got beat by the "B" team. Parents on the "A" Team lost their sh*t and blamed the loss on coach. Me, I just sat there wondering why the top goats on the "B" team didn't make the "A" team. It was obvious there was a mistake, but the "A" Team coach picked his roster of 18 first and the "B" Team coach got the rest. "A" Team coach picked certain players because of what the parents brought to the game of PAY-FOR-PLAY. Congrats on Slammers for beating the A team.
I saw a B team beat an A team once + the A team coach was running privates with the players on his team.

The A team parents were so pissed it was fun to watch.

After that game all the privates with the coach players stopped attending his sessions unless they wanted minutes or to play a certain position.

I can top that A team v B team situation that some parents, players & coaches find themselves in during the season. It's actually sad to look back on all the pain caused by a few. This coach coached the A team and B team, yikes!!! Coach played games with the parents through privates and manipulation skilz. The more privates your kid participated in with coach, the better development coach can perform and better the chance for your kid to make coach's A Team. He would play with 8 families and their dds. Weekly mental abuse for all involved. The ones who went to most of coaches' privates got the A Team call up every week. Dude had 40+ players to make A team and a B team each week. The ass kissing from parents that went on each week at practice was crazy. The sad part, even top goats got manipulated by coach. For example, if your dd was starting her period and had some PMS going on, too bad, he would use that against the poor girl and play head games. Coach had no kids by the way. Tell her to stop crying and complaining of cramps. "Time to grow up and mature and stop the whining" coach would say. My pal lost his sh*t because he didn't have the extra cash on hand for privates. It 100% put his baby girl on the B team. She got called up to the A team towards the end of the season because a few quit the A team because coach was playing games and a big-time manipulator. He said he knows everyone in the great game and his recommendations are taken without questions. It cuts both ways coach would say, meaning you better STFU and pay extra for privates or B team it is and no recommendation from coach.
Sounds like we're describing the same coach.

We never participated in the privates with coach sessions. I thought it was ethically wrong. But, for some of the newer players it did actually help them get up to speed more quickly.

When you're in the middle of all the drama + being manipulated by the coach sometimes it's hard to keep grounded. Parents of obviously lacking players are juicing the coach for minutes which is no big deal when you win but when you lose there's always a question about who should have been on the field. Also there's players on the B team who obviously should be on the A team but are being held back for whatever reason. (Usually $$$ via privates with coach)

In the end things tend to work themselves out. What I'm describing happened 4-5 years ago. The players who's parents were juicing the coach with privates grouped together and did a package deal + left for another club. All the talented B team players were moved up to the A team and the current team is better off than it ever would have been before. Just to make things even better the package deal group quickly fell apart at the new club and that team rarely wins now.

Until that striker comes across an attacking minded defender and the back line becomes quiet poison but ya still say the striker just had a bad game. Sometimes that solid player sits back watches like a hawk then bites hard.

It’s going to be interesting how the season shakes out.. @Surfer_dad and @Fieldsofgold how does Koge chances look after only 4 games?
Hard to say. Coach is moving players around in a significant way, within the same game, so you can see some lack of quick play and confusion of what to do/where their teammates are. A lot of athleticism, but need to install and improve the overall club/team system of play. Very early in the season. Surf is clearly running on all cylinders right now and play a system of quick passes and established patterns that is very hard to beat and if you can’t stop it, they are a goal making machine.

Didn’t they get better pieces after playoffs last year?
What I heard from one of the parents on that team is that they have 2 players out, one defender from last year and one attacker they just picked up.. he said that if the coach doesn’t like the player, he will not give them playing time and that they do not bring up players form the RL team either because the coach doesn’t want them or the RL coach won’t give them up and that the coach isn’t looking to add to the team either.

Sounds about right with every RL/NL team. The only way to get from RL to NL is to switch clubs.

Technically ECNL and ECRL players are in the same pool of players that are eligible to play for an ECNL game. The only asterisk is that players can only play one game per day ECNL or ECRL. ECNL set things up this way with the intention that clubs move players between teams as needed.

Problems come in because coaches are judged/graded on the performance of their team/players. The club gives bonuses + defines salary based on wins/losses. What this means is that if a clubs ECNL team is floundering, but the ECRL team is winning left and right there's no incentive for the ECRL coach to give players to the ECNL team.

GA + DPL has the same issue.

If your kid is on the ECRL or DPL team your best bet is to consider all 1st teams a different club. Get to know all the 1st team coaches + be willing to jump ship if a better offer comes up.
