We were in the 07s - Beach and Legends ran away with it. 20pts more than others including the other division.. they were that far ahead. Beach hadn't lost in 2 years.Legends and Beach own ECRL

I’m confused? I thought Slammers G10 won the RL Mojave? I mean they had a plaque that said that. No NL players needed either..From standings at the end of last season (from oldest to youngest age group standings), Koge and Surf are tops in the Sonoran division

Blues won RL Sonoran and SW. Not sure what data you’re looking at.
Why do you have to be in the top 5% or 1% of teams in a league? I thought one of the problems with US soccer is parents obsession with winning and development taking a back seat?Maybe a little league clarity is in order... (on the girls side)
GA + ECNL = Top Teams for clubs
DPL + ECRL = Typically 2nd Teams for clubs (but can be the Top team if they don't have a GA or ECNL team) *
NPL = Top Teams for clubs that aren't in GA ECNL DPL (it's also the highest level of Socal League) **
* DPL is closely aligned with GA and ECRL is directly aligned with ECNL.
** NPL is a league comprised of the top teams from different regional leagues as an example if you live in LA or San Diego SOCAL League. Other parts of the country have different regional leagues, but their top teams play in NPL.
I defined the leagues is a specific order mostly to annoy certain people. ;-)
The reality is that no matter what league you're playing in you want to be in the top 5% of the teams playing. With leagues like DPL ECRL or NPL you want to be in the top 1% of the teams playing.
Most parents and players at the top levels of youth soccer start looking at playing in college at the u14 level. Why do you have to be in the top 5% or 1% of teams in a league? I thought one of the problems with US soccer is parents obsession with winning and development taking a back seat?
Thanks very clear picture, our team played flight one last year and have some work to do as new comers if we want to be in the 1% or even the 5% in one of those leagues. Opening day tomorrow let's see how we do.Maybe a little league clarity is in order... (on the girls side)

Top 1 or 5% basically means you have to be on the winning team of a division. That's just dumb. I would say upper third of a division would be ideal to get the most looks from colleges at showcases/playoffs. And just cause you're on a good team does not mean you're a good player. There are plenty of players on bottom half of league teams that are ballers and who will be recruited by colleges. Most parents and players at the top levels of youth soccer start looking at playing in college at the u14 level.
If this is what your kid wants to do being on the top 5% or top 1% of certain leagues means coaches will reach out to you vs you reaching out to them.
At the highest levels of youth soccer teams can switch between possession and direct depending on the team they're playing against. While player "development" is still occurring it switched from individual skills to team tactics.
I never said not being on the top 5% or 1% will preclude players from playing in college.Top 1 or 5% basically means you have to be on the winning team of a division. That's just dumb. No excuses but I looked at the Southeast GA schedule and ANPBK Palm Beach Kicks 10G GA who beat TopHat 10G GA Gold (1-0) has already played 6 league games. This was TopHat 10G GA Gold's first games of the season.Looks like TopHat 2010G went 1-1 this weekend in league games, including a loss to a team 20+ in rankings. That's 3 out of 4 significant underperformances so far this season - it's unlikely they will stay top 5 (or 10) for much longer unless the next few game results are markedly different.

I have no idea what either team has been doing during the summer. I do know that sometimes it takes a couple of games to get a team in sync. Maybe there's a new coach, maybe there's new players, maybe there's a new DOC pushing a different style of coaching.
I think Beach is the team with the target. They ended strong in the playoffs locally and won their surf cup bracket.
I didn’t get to see much of Blues this weekend but they loaded up on Koge RL players from last season.I think it’ll be their division to lose.
Slammers RL in the Mojave loaded up with taller players and top talent from the E64 team a couple NL players wanting to play local in HB but with new coach AM taking over for SM I think they’ll over take Beach sooner rather than later as top dog. Their backline remains intact and the field players all stayed who were offered spots to return (approximately 8/9 field players). They did well at Surf Cup losing a match they dominated against Utah Royals ECNL (who won their Surf Cup Super Black) in their first match the new look Slammers RL played together. AM has 40+ 2010s in his farm system now practicing together between the E64 and RL that will push the RL team to perform or be replaced with E64 players. The practices are pretty intense and competition between the girls there. Their main keeper went to Pats ECNL and they now have their taller keeper in for majority of the matches with another pretty qualified back up goalie splitting some time together.
Koge RL turned over a new team taking on the Slammers NL girls who were displaced from the most recent tryouts as well as a few other NL players looking for play time. I believe 4-5 of the previous squad remain. They lost to Beach RL in PKs and will give Blues all they can handle.
I think these 4 teams will run their divisions and battle it out for 1 and 2 spots for their league.
Legends RL will be hit or miss on their performance as I’m sure how they perform will revolve around which of the 23 NL players will play with them for that specific match.
Eagles has been active and will likely make the playoffs but are second tier.
LAFC will likely round out the Mojave division in top 4 between them and eagles.
I really like SD Surf RL and how they play possession out the back. I think they’ll be dangerous by the end of the RL season.
Phoenix Rising and Utah Royals will still be the top RL teams from AZ.
I don’t expect to see much from Pats who are carrying 19 players, Del Mar Sharks, Rebels or Heat.
Sporting California continues to hemorrhage players and discourage interest from local talent. They’re now pulling from their Ventura team to try and complete both their NL and RL rosters. I expect them to have similar results as last year rounding out the lower to middle of the pack now that MS brought his core over and merged with what was left of the SGV team.
LA Breakers will be a mid tier team fighting with LAFC and Sporting for 4th/5th place Mojave.
