Games of the week 17-18....

I honestly can't wrap my head around how he improved so much with the mediocre training we had. So glad to hear he's doing well, hope he's able to stick with the team when they combine with the '02s next year.

Roflmao hahahah!

Da started back up

Golden State 3-1 over Galaxy

Anybody with scores for the rest of teams? LAUFA over Arsenal but didn't hear the score line.

did Golden State dominated? was it a well played game?
No domination either way. Pretty even for long stretches, but GS capitalized on mistakes for their 1st and 3rd goals. Their 2nd goal was top class. Galaxy had some chances in the 2nd half when it was still 2-1, but good goalkeeping and defending kept the ball out of the net. GS deserved the win.

It wasn’t a particularly well played game. Very windy and a dry, bouncy field. It required making adjustments to the conditions. GS did a better job of that. Unfortunate that was the last game of the season between the two teams.

Better played compared to the first match, when there was like 8-9 yellows combined. Lot less fouls, and don't recall any cards this time.

Yeah was a bit windy and those complex fields are what they are.

Golden State played with more passion and you could tell they wanted the game more. Galaxy seemed to be missing or off in the attack somewhat, forwards changed out or something from last game.

Golden State was well organized and played a nice tactical game, took advantage of the mistakes or forced the issue, team game but the third goal was a good individual effort by Golden State for reading the play, causing a turnover and finishing. Some times the details or strong individual efforts can make a big difference and I thought that was the case this time.

Galaxy Cup might be another chance for a rematch.

Academy Game of the week is back up and running with score and comments. You can now posted your scores and comment for 06, 05, 04, 03, and 02.

So the two southwest 03 academy team Albion and LAUFA traveling over the weekends to take on the two Northwest MLS powerhouse teams Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers, it’s wasn’t a pretty one for Albion, on the other hand. LAUFA did pretty well, and i think if’ it’s wasn’t for the (3) set piece play for Seattle. LAUFA should easily came away with the double on Sunday. Anyway it was a good game and Credit to both teams playing in the rain. Soccer has a variety of types of set pieces. each type of set piece: the corner kick, goal kick, free kick, and penalty kick.

Seattle Sounders 4-0 Albion

Portland Timbers 10-2 Albion

SCHEDULE SET FOR 2018 DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY SUMMER SHOWCASE, PLAYOFFS AND CHAMPIONSHIP

SOCAL SPORTS COMPLEX TO HOST 2018 SUMMER SHOWCASE AND PLAYOFFS FROM JUNE 18-30; ADVANCING TEAMS WILL STAY IN OCEANSIDE FOR NEW QUARTERFINAL KNOCKOUT ROUND FORMAT; CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR JULY 8-11 IN KANSAS CITY, MO., WHERE FIRST EVER GIRLS' ACADEMY CHAMPIONS WILL BE CROWNED AT SWOPE SOCCER VILLAGE

CHICAGO (March 7, 2018) - The dates for the 2018 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Summer Showcase, Playoffs, Quarterfinals and Championships are set. The premier events concluding the 2017-18 season will, for the first time, see both Boys' and Girls' Academy Champions crowned.

From June 18-30, SoCal Sports Complex in Oceanside, Calif. will play host to the largest event in the history of the Development Academy, following July's announcement of a long-term partnership between U.S. Soccer and Surf Cup Sports, the San Diego Tourism Authority, the San Diego Sports Alliance and the City of San Diego. The Complex will feature the Boys' Summer Showcase (U-15, U-16/17), Playoffs (U-16/17, U-18/19) and Quarterfinal Knockout Rounds (U-16/17, U-18/19), as well as the Girls' Summer Showcase (U-14, U-15, U-16/17), Playoffs (U-15, U-16/17, U-18/19), Quarterfinal Knockout Rounds (U-15, U-16/17, U-18/19) and National Championships (U-18/19).

After the Quarterfinal Knockout Rounds, Swope Soccer Village, home of the USL's Swope Park Rangers and all Sporting Kansas City Academy teams, will host the 2018 Academy Championships from July 8-11. Boys' Semifinals and Finals (U-16/17, U-18/19) will be held on July 8th and 10th, respectively, while the Girls' Semifinals and Finals (U-15, U-16/17) will take place July 9th and 11th.

"The 2018 Development Academy summer events will be elevated by the first-time integration of Boys' and Girls' DA programming," U.S. Soccer Development Academy Director Jared Micklos said. "Our goal is to create the optimal environment for players, coaches and referees to perform at the highest level in our country. We share an excitement and confidence that the San Diego and Kansas City venues will provide two world-class environments for athletes to compete and be evaluated for elite youth, college and professional playing opportunities."

Per U.S. Soccer Medical and Technical Staff, the Development Academy Playoff, Showcase and Championship competitions will each feature one rest day so maximum of three games can be played over any four-day span. This competition structure has been designed with a focus player safety well-being.

Combining the Showcase, Playoffs and Quarterfinals schedule at the SoCal Sports Complex provides an environment best suited for all Academy clubs, players, scouts and spectators. The format also gives Academy Directors the ability to attend all their club's games. Scheduling all age groups in the same location over the same time also provides opportunities for elite players to play up with older age groups.

The Draw for the 2018 Playoffs will be conducted after the conclusion of the Development Academy Regular season, in early June.

GIRLS U-18/19 PLAYOFFS AND CHAMPIONSHIP

Held entirely at the Oceanside So Cal Sports Complex, the Girls' U-18/19 Playoff structure will be a 16-team, single elimination competition held June 23-29 with June 24 and 26 serving as rest days. The Final will be played on June 29 at 2:30 p.m. PT.

NEW QUARTERFINAL KNOCKOUT ROUND FORMAT

In order to reduce travel and lengthen the summer off-season to better prepare for the 2018-19 season, the Quarterfinal Knockout Round games have a new format. Previously, teams traveled back to their home environments, where higher seeds would play host to lower seeds who were required to travel. Under the new structure, playoff group winners will continue play in Oceanside, after another rest period following final group games.

The Quarterfinal Knockout Rounds will feature the eight group winners for each of the following playoff age groups: Boys' U-16/17 and U-18/19; Girls U-15 and U-16/17. The matchups will be based on playoff seeding.

SCHEDULE SET FOR 2018 DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY SUMMER SHOWCASE, PLAYOFFS AND CHAMPIONSHIP
Get ready, uninitiated guys. That Showcase Kool Aid has a bitter aftertaste.
After all is said and done, you will most likely find that most academy teams outside of Socal don't play soccer very well. You could have scrimmaged a few better (local) flight 2 teams for free. And don't hurt your neck looking for a "pro scout" watching your son showcase his talents at a meaningless game. Any real scout would know better, like hang out at playgrounds in Ghana.

"Featuring meaningful, hand-picked matchups..." That's straight-up bullshit. If your team is at the south end of the table those games will not be meaningful.
"All clubs are required to make their accommodations exclusively through Anthony Travel." Hilarious. The exclusive money making machine of the 2018 charade.

Now that's some funny sh*t!!!

(Score Update)

03/ LAUFA Academy 1-0 Golden State Academy

04/ LAUFA Academy 1-3 Golden State Academy

Yeah we had a early game so stopped by to watch the late 03' game since know players on both sides:
Game was a lot of stop and go, the LA Team more procession especially 1st half but had trouble converting.
Golden State looked different (missing a forward or some offensive player) almost like they were tired or not really wanting to play or pass around like I've seen in the past.
Center Referee seemed to be delaying or calling a lot late for some reason and forgetting about his AR? Both coaches were not happy with all the pushing, grabbing ,etc but when the GS coached shouted one two many fbombs & complaints he was warned with ejection but still continued.
2nd Half opened up a bit around the time subs where brought on, LA started to attact a bit more scored and had a couple near mises. GS had some chances with there share of free kicks but the LA defense and teamwork where good.

GS has 2 wins in their last six games which includes the Galaxy cup games. Seems to be resorting to lots of long ball and relying on only a few players to make things happen instead of playing simple. LAUFA did just that, played simple and didn't try to force anything and they were successful.

Golden State has been playing a lot & one of their starters has moved to Arsenal I heard so going to be intresting to see how they adjust. Close game /w last minute winner for Surf on Sunday.
So you go from playing with the best to playing with a team that doesn't even belong in USSDA???

That was smart.
