Albion Cup G04

No worries. Carlsbad did squeak through barely. Most of the games were close, but most of those were flight 2 teams playing against each other. I still think beyond surf cup and maybe blues cup, tournaments are nothing more than a money maker.

But not all teams are at a level that would get them an invite to Surf or Blues. There are teams at all levels that utilize the vast number of tournaments. I am sure the Flight 3 and Flight 4 teams want to play in tournaments.

You really sound like you are holding on to some resentment towards Albion. All in all you are entitled to your opinion Even though it is factually incorrect.

Resentment? How did you get that? And how is it factually incorrect? Look and tell me how that teams in that tournament played flight 1 last year. Carlsbad, Notts, Albion, CDA slammers. If I am incorrect please tell me. There could be one or two more that I don't know of. My point was there are too many tournaments so the best teams are not exactly at the same one on a given weekend. I would be fine with getting rid of copa and those teams go to Albion. My problem is not with Albion.

This is true. Create a different class of tournaments for these teams. Flight 1 goes surf blues etc, Flight 2 does copa Albion etc. It would eleminate situations like this weekend where Carlsbad plays two flight 2 teams and beats them 7-0.

I think the problem is that both Albion and Copa wanted to use the Oceanside Complex and Polo Fields. Those two venues are closed the weekend of the 22nd so the fields can be prepped for Surf Cup. So, they either had to play this past weekend or push their tournaments out past Surf Cup into August when kids are going back to school or run it the week of July 4th when a good number of families are on vacation.

Carlsbad (LAGSD) used this tourney as a warmup for our England trip. We hadn't played a meaningful game in two months. The tournament served its purpose. We will play 04 Academy teams from Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

It is factually incorrect that the talent pool at Copa is deeper than Albion. You are basing your arguement on previous history that (as it has already been pointed out) bears little weight on the present form of those teams.

At Copa, you have Oside (not a flight 1 team LY). Sharks previous 2nd team (1st team has gone ECNL). So assuming the Rebels team is the same as LY just under a new coach then there are 2 "flight 1" teams at copa.

Goran is sharks ecnl team. 3 of the 4 teams at copa are competitive teams. Oceanside is technically flight 1, but obviously struggling after losing key players.

Ok....I stand corrected there, but Albion had 2 DA teams, 2 Slammers teams that are SCDSL flt 1 teams and Notts (Presidio?). That's 5 versus 3....

But that's 5/12 versus 3/4. Maybe Albion should have had 2 brackets instead of 4.

To be honest I don't care that much but it doesn't seem fair to any team to not have fair bracketing.

Using GW Sportservices. This is the first time a girls team from Carlsbad is going. One of the Carlsbad coaches works for this company.
