Today in Fascism

^^^ Exactly. They dump their tanks right into the gutter. Trash everywhere. These vehicles aren't moving unless it's by a flatbed tow truck.
One look at google maps will show you where these encampments are at. Hansen Dam. Sepulveda Basin. Santa Fe Dam. Whittier Narrows. Multiple homeless encampments in these areas. 710/105 fwys. FD responds to this area multiple times a day..EVERY DAY for fires getting out of control.
RV camps. Gardena/Compton area: Broadway / Alondra Blvd. Look just FiNorth of Alondra on Broadway. Main St / Alondra Blvd. Same here. Look just North of Alondra on Broadway. Foothill Blvd / Brand Blvd in the San Fernando Valley. Look just North of Brand on both sides of the street on Foothill.
These are but a few. "Urban Campers" are everywhere. There's bigger and worse ones. I can give a whole lot more locations for all the naysayers if these aren't enough proof.
From the mouth of Azusa / San Gabriel Canyon down the riverbed until you get to Whittier Narrows off the 605/60 fwys..and beyond..a ton of encampments. Look for the trash piles and the blue tarps. Zoom in. See for yourself. Look just west of the parking lot at the mouth of the canyon.
Fires are a huge problem. Some of our properties are adjacent to Caltrans or railway easements preferred by homeless and we've had our buildings catch fire a handful of times from homeless encampment fires. Fortunately our buildings don't burn very well. Not uncommon for them to throw their bottles and trash on our properties, on occasion their own feces, when they're not trying to break our security cameras and exterior lights with rocks. Not only have the vagrants dramatically increased in number, they have gotten a lot more aggressive.

Because it’s not a “homeless” problem it is a drug and mental illness problem. As long as it continues to be mislabeled I will use quotes. In the same manner I did with your “vaccine”.

I work n downtown LA and deal with it everyday. From people smoking meth outside my office window, watching drugged out, mentally ill people wandering in and out of traffic attacking people with various objects. Having them scream at the invisible person while standing on the side walk outside my office. Then there is the shit…literal shit. How many times have you left your office and look over to see someone’s bare ass a few feet away from you taking a shit? How many times have you seen families having to walk in the street to get to school because there is an encampment blocking the sidewalk?

I count 5-10 people each day as I drive thru DTLA actively doing drugs in public. How about you?

Run up against friction long enough, callous does develop.

Callousness v Ignorance…which is worse?

My wife spent 10yrs in DTLA. She finally was able to transfer out to an office closer to home. Everything you said is spot-on. Me and the kids would go have lunch with her on a few rare occasions. They saw it all off 4th/Hill. Lots of people overdosing in doorways. Walking the streets was like walking a minefield of crap bombs. Crazy people everywhere. I'd make my way back to the freeway via Skid Row to always emphasize to the kids what drugs do and the importance of an education and or a good solid job.

You spend 20 years asking your city council to block new housing. You were successful.

Then, when the RVs show up, you are upset that they don't live in the apartments you prevented.

If you don't like it, look in the mirror. There's the guy who caused the problem.
LOL…..remember when if we didn’t take the shot we were killing grandma? The last low cost housing project in LA came in at an estimated cost of over $700k/1000 sqft Apt. that’s almost 2x average construction cost in the area. Wonder why?

you love to just blame people who call you on your BS as the culprit of the problem. Sorry, but I didn’t authorize camping on the sidewalks, I didn’t declare CA a sanctuary state, I didn’t vote to make retail crime below $1000 a misdemeanor or allow open area drug use. Oh…and Zero Cash bail. We actually voted that down in LA but unfortunately LA elected Gascon (who promised to do for LA what he put in motion in SF….well, he certainly did that didn’t he). What was Gascon’s 1st action in office? To institute Zero cash bail! His 2nd, was to direct his Prosecutors not to prosecute a laundry list of crimes.

In some sense I agree that it is the voters fault. But it’s those who vote in morons like Newsome, Gascon, Bass, ect who have turned this state into dog shit.
During their tenure CA has dropped to 44th in Education, 1st in poverty level, homelessness has skyrocketed, and for the first time in history, there are more people and corporations moving OUT of CA than moving in.

So if it’s ANYONE who needs to look in the mirror is those who voted for these so called leaders.

We were talking about RVs on the street and apartment construction.

Suddenly, you want to bring up covid vaccines, cash bail, the CA educational system, and George Gascon.

Pick one argument, on topic, and make it. Don’t just vent everything that didn’t come out in your morning dump.

If you look over your hedge you may see that it's all linked together. They are symptoms of the disease that has take up residence in CA. But it's cool to be linear behind the fence, especially if you never have to put on the hip waders.

MTG and Bobo had a public spat on the floor of the House over which of them gets to impeach Joe Biden. "You’ve been nothing but a little bitch" or words to that effect were reported by House members within earshot.

When your big plan is to build a railroad that traverses 2 oceans, your ass deserves to be impeached.

Are you going to hide from this a 3rd time, Waldo?

Related to that concept...

You have these Ds proclaiming their cities to be sanctuary cities. Pure virtue signaling. And when NY as an example gets a few thousand bused up there suddenly they are bitching about the cost and how they cannot afford to deal with it. And yet they advocate open borders and dont care about the cities close to the border that actually have to deal with the consequences of their policies.

Today in CA things are reaching a head where decades or bad policy and making life difficult for the average citizens. The virtue signaling and the laws passed have made things measurably worse.

Block new housing? Or block low income housing that will destroy the community AND your property value? Look in the mirror and realize your party's attempt at buying votes, by helping a guy making $23k a year live in a $1.5M neighborhood, only helps $23k a year guy.

My favorite part is that democrat leaders would rather see businesses close than remove the bums & junkies blocking their entrances and harassing people on the street. I've yet to see or hear a single democrat tell me how this is a successful strategy.

The good news is, when business owners are forced to reopen somewhere else, JoeTato Biden will take credit for creating more jobs.

RV's and apartment construction, much like vaccines, cash bail, education, welfare, etc. are all symptoms of the same disease you suffer from:

Libtardation

I would but part of the argument is showing you your pattern of behavior (blame those who don’t agree as being the problem) whilst showing you the reasons why the problem proliferates based on the policies of the elected officials, not those that voted against certain measures.

It’s like seeing the whole forest rather than a few leaves from a specific tree.

Right. It’s all connected, like the matrix.

You have a palm tree, an aspen, a blue spruce, a Joshua Tree, and a red oak. That’s not a forest. That’s five trees that have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

If you really think you have a link, explain it. Suppose you had a different DA. How would that help RV dwellers move into those apartments which your city never allowed to be built?

There is a big problem on the left with them not being able to distinguish between empathy and enabling. This has exacerbated the problem, but I don't know many Republican California Mayors that are putting much of a dent in the homeless problem. I believe most politicians don't want to tackle it because it is a very complicated problem that can't be resolved in the short term. A lot easier just to virtue signal.

You should stick to teaching math as policy and reality just aren’t your forte. The DA aspect is just another cog in the system our Governor and many other Democrats proliferate. Which is why is there a similar problem in Portland and Seattle. Do they not have room for more housing as well?

They are all related.

They are all poor ideas from the same elected officials...who continually pass laws that make issues worse, hurt the little guy/middle class, etc.

Stop voting for the people that put in these various policies in place if you want to see change.

SF as an example hasnt had a repub mayor since the 60s and the last repub council member was late 60s or so.

At some point you would think people would wake up and realize that group of elected officials have let you down the wrong path...for decades.

Still off topic.

We were talking RV dwellers. Where do you think they are going to live if your city council blocks almost all new apartment buildings?

I mean, go ahead and elect a DA who will bust up the organized crime shoplifting rings. You have my vote.

But what does that have to do with using zoning to block all new hosing so that people have to live in their cars?

You are talking RV dwellers, I’m addressing how policy got us and keeps us in this Walking Dead like atmosphere. If they can afford an RV they can also move to an area they can afford to live, no? Well, at least the small minority who want to get a job and a structured place to live, pay bills, taxes, etc.

Since you want to stay on topic, let’s go back to the beginning. Please with a simple yes or no, have you seen the homeless or unhoused situation in CA get better under Newsome’s tenure?
