Today in Fascism

How many people need to be living in their cars before you stop needing quotation marks to refer to the housing crisis?

That’s some serious “callousness“ you are showing to your fellow man.

There are tens of thousands of people living in their cars up here. We don’t need bonus punctuation to realize there is a problem.

I am happy to discuss solutions, and willing to admit that Newsom’s SF policies were naive and useless. But there are more than enough head in the sand folks up here. No need for one more.
Because it’s not a “homeless” problem it is a drug and mental illness problem. As long as it continues to be mislabeled I will use quotes. In the same manner I did with your “vaccine”.

I work n downtown LA and deal with it everyday. From people smoking meth outside my office window, watching drugged out, mentally ill people wandering in and out of traffic attacking people with various objects. Having them scream at the invisible person while standing on the side walk outside my office. Then there is the shit…literal shit. How many times have you left your office and look over to see someone’s bare ass a few feet away from you taking a shit? How many times have you seen families having to walk in the street to get to school because there is an encampment blocking the sidewalk?

I count 5-10 people each day as I drive thru DTLA actively doing drugs in public. How about you?

Run up against friction long enough, callous does develop.

Callousness v Ignorance…which is worse?

Why did you put "vaccine" in quotes? Do you think that strengthens your position?

I was talking about the people living in parked trailers. What drug addict can hold down a job well enough to buy an RV?

The vehicle dwellers are your dishwashers and gardeners.

Do you need the extra punctuation to be willing to discuss it?

As Watfly explained, many are making and selling meth in said RV’s which is also why we see so many RV’s catching fire.

Feel free to cling to whatever petty details you wish. It isn’t going to affect my position or yours.

it is nice that LA’s Advocacy Teams hand out nice clean meth pipes, paraphernalia and needles. Especially when the rains wash several of them into our parking lot and sidewalks.

But building houses sure will solve that. Just ask Newsome, he’s been allocating Billions during his tenure and we’ve seen nothing but growth in the Homeless population. Could his policies like being a sanctuary state be a contributing factor? Maybe his policies on Retail Crime, open air drug use and camping in the sidewalks could have something to do with it.

"many are making and selling meth in said RV’s"? Is this Breaking Bad?

Because we stopped putting blame on people awhile back. Like how we blame cops for black criminals that die because they refuse to comply? It's a person problem. People lose shit when they make bad choices. I'd imagine heroin is amazing based on everything I've heard. Yet there's ONE little reason I don't try it. We no doubt have good people suffering bad situations from no fault of their own, but if you say "fuck off" to your employer... there's a good chance you don't make the mortgage payment. When I bought my last house during the 2008 crunch, and everything was a short sale, the ONE consistency was this: Mercedes SUV on one side of the garage. BMW 7-series on the other. Lots of big screen televisions. Pools, toys galore and not an ounce of common sense among them. Makes me wonder, with Choo Choo Joe creating all those jobs, why this happens.

Libtards helped accelerate this notion of "victimhood" and now you need our tax dollars to provide housing to your voters. How'd that turn out?

If you wish to have a private conversation with someone, there are ways to do that. However, if you make a statement in public, you should expect responses.

We never know when you're going to respond. In fairness to you, though, you generally don't respond when asked a direct question.

Dishwashers and gardeners... so the illegal aliens you keep telling to come here for all the available jobs nobody wants?

Do you need me to type it in Spanish since they don't speak English?

This is one idea to address the homeless problem that is being proposed by a friend of mine. I say its at least worth a shot.

call it what you want but it's turned your state into a real shithole in some places. It's nearly impossible to sort through the body count on the street to determine who needs the required medical attention and who is just being an ass because they are allowed to. Funny that you seem to have no empathy for humanity that lives less than you. These are hard issues to deal with, it's even harder in a place like CA that institutionalizes homelessness/drug addiction and some profit from it. Nasty state of affairs. But please stick your nose in this comment....i would recommend volunteering one day down "there"...

Yes. Newsom’s housing policies while in SF were not at all effective.

Back then, he was a typical progressive. Promise people you will help the poor by spending large amounts of SOM, but never actually think too hard about what works and what does not.

His current policy is quite different. It actually tries to attack the cause of the problem. I’d prefer a more conservative set of solutions, but the CA GOP has been as useless as the left on this. Revoking CEQA without changing zoning won’t do jack shit, and any decent conservative economist knows it.
An example for this is what project?

Many addicts have "RV's" or trailers, unemployment, SS and/or they game the system for money. The stench coming from some of these vehicles is unbelievable. Many of the RV's are inoperable or were only operable enough to get to their current location. They're not showing up in 2022 Prevosts.

^^^ Exactly. They dump their tanks right into the gutter. Trash everywhere. These vehicles aren't moving unless it's by a flatbed tow truck.
One look at google maps will show you where these encampments are at. Hansen Dam. Sepulveda Basin. Santa Fe Dam. Whittier Narrows. Multiple homeless encampments in these areas. 710/105 fwys. FD responds to this area multiple times a day..EVERY DAY for fires getting out of control.
RV camps. Gardena/Compton area: Broadway / Alondra Blvd. Look just North of Alondra on Broadway. Main St / Alondra Blvd. Same here. Look just North of Alondra on Broadway. Foothill Blvd / Brand Blvd in the San Fernando Valley. Look just North of Brand on both sides of the street on Foothill.
These are but a few. "Urban Campers" are everywhere. There's bigger and worse ones. I can give a whole lot more locations for all the naysayers if these aren't enough proof.
From the mouth of Azusa / San Gabriel Canyon down the riverbed until you get to Whittier Narrows off the 605/60 fwys..and beyond..a ton of encampments. Look for the trash piles and the blue tarps. Zoom in. See for yourself. Look just west of the parking lot at the mouth of the canyon.

You spend 20 years asking your city council to block new housing. You were successful.

Then, when the RVs show up, you are upset that they don't live in the apartments you prevented.

If you don't like it, look in the mirror. There's the guy who caused the problem.
