Year later, Trump pays Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about it. Maybe he was a secret Red Socks fan, and didn’t want anyone to know. Then he files legal forms falsely claiming the money was for legal services.
Still a crime. An affair (or clam chowder) with Stormy Daniels is legal. Paying her to keep quiet about it is legal. Filing false documents to misrepresent the payment is illegal. It’s still illegal whether or not there was any clam chowder in the bowl. Trump knowingly filed false legal documents, and that is a crime.
I’ll agree that this is small potatoes compared to the Jan 6 effort to disrupt congressional proceedings. It’s also far smaller than the blatant attempt at election interference in Georgia, or his repeated fraudulent tax and bank filings. No, Trump didn't pay Daniels anything. Michael Cohen paid her to be quiet. She agreed to a contract and broke it. I know... breaking rules and laws doesn't bother you unless Trump does it. I don't imagine Trump writes checks to pay his own bills. I'd imagine he has an accountant that cuts checks for legal services rendered by a former attorney that lies under oath.
What crime? Paying someone to keep their mouth shut isn't a crime. Can you prove Trump knowingly used campaign funds? Can you prove Trump actually does his own taxes? Or do you want him going to jail for his employees committing fraud like you did before? People are happy to string him up because he beat Hillary and you're still mad. No it's not and it's how most legal cases end, paying someone to STFU and admit to doing nothing wrong. Pay for silence is the American way. It's how 98% of most disputes end with settlement at mediation.
