T 2.0

Its enlightening to finally see a focus on overspending and an apparent intent on tackling it. That said, Elon & Vivek are no more than advisors with big microphones. They have zero power wrt federal spending and seem to lack basic knowledge on how it actually works.

I'm enjoying the show so far, popcorn refills all around.
You could be right, but if they shine a light on massive government waste and bureaucracy, maybe they get voters and Congress's attention and there will be a push to do something about it (granted politicians from both sides have their hand in the cookie jar). I'd rather have two successful businessmen, than some politician (aka Gore, who failed when he claimed he was going to do it).

Say one thing about Trump, he has set the bar very high for his administration with his promises. We will see how successful the resistance will be, however, I think it will fail when it comes to immigration. I wouldn't F with Tom Homan. Mind boggling that many Dems want to block the deportation of criminal migrants.

The San Diego City pension crisis was caused by the decision of Mayor Susan Golding and a compliant City Council to shortchange the annual contribution to the pension fund so that the money could be used to finance the 1996 Republican Presidential Nominating Convention in San Diego, thus depleting the fund on the income side. The affected pool of City employees accepted the deal because arrangements were made to improve their pensions in the future, further depleting the fund on the outgo side.
Susan Golding was just another in a long line of bad SD mayors...and she was a family friend.

My concern with E&V is that their lack of knowledge & expertise on Fed spending may end up shining the light in the wrong places, hopefully I'm wrong. They also can't actually do anything as they are purposely not a "department" which would require vetting and conflict of interest statements etc. So they need Congress to act. Hopefully their "noise" will not take focus off the serious stuff.

Hegseth said he's going to tackle the 50% of the defense budget that goes to external companies (MIC), RFK is going to take on big pharma/ag/food/health ... that's about 50% of the budget right there between those two.

I don't think either are wrong to put a large target on all the corporate grifters that espouse capitalism while suckling on government sponsored corporate socialism (effectively). MIC & big pharma/ag/food/health have deep pockets in which many many congress people dwell though (Dem & GOP), so this will get interesting.

What did you think of Silberman?

One year while volunteering at a Thanksgiving food kitchen, ex-Mayor Maureen O'Connor came to help out on the buffet line. I introduced her to my kids (who were also volunteering (HS public service hours)) as "San Diego's last honest mayor". She laughed.

I only met her post Silberman...my dad probably had an opinion. Never a fan of O'Connor as a mayor, then she went off the rails, obviously she had a serious addiction.

Elon sent a rocket into space and had it return and land on a dime. He can probably figure out Fed spending while on the pot in the morning. But yeah, they only have the power to make recommendations.

Where have you heard that “many Dems want to block deportation of criminal migrants.”?

MAGA got Elon and the Twitter Files, and your side got Liz Cheney and her dad Dick.

Elon did not make even one of the drawings of his magic rocket ship and did not write even one line of code for its software. His employees did all that.

If he is willing and able to hire people of equal quality to do his government work, he should do all right.

Women (with husband standing by) engage in mass 'primal scream' in wake of Trump victory: 'Release our pain'

The 'primal scream' was meant to release 'pain and frustration'

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Yes, some of you are dumb Turkeys but I love you anyways. I made you all a nice Humble Pie.

"Happy Thanksgiving to all, including to the Radical Left Lunatics (espola & Husker Du) who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed, and will always fail, because their ideas and policies are so hopelessly bad that the great people of our Nation just gave a landslide victory to those who want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Don’t worry, our Country will soon be respected, productive, fair, and strong, and you will be, more than ever before, proud to be an American!" DJT

He's a "move fast and break things" kind of guy, visionary with an ability to execute, but doing that in business versus government is different. They have already come out with statements which show a lack of understanding, e.g. cutting all expired programs like Veterans healthcare .. so shoot from the hip and see what happens. Expired does not mean that Congress has not authorized the spending - it does and has.

Elon said he can cut $2T dollars - that would be awesome, let's see, although I think that would be an enormous shock to the US people, economy and I expect the GOP would be shellacked in the mid terms (they have only 2 years to be awesome after all).
