Surf ENCL vs. Slammers Koge

My kid returned to the Bay Area to begin college and the grayshirt process.

My kid does not do tryouts homie. I can’t comment any further due to pending litigation.
To each their own however I always recommend working with coaches (being recruited) and doing tryouts.

I have a relative that should have been a pro baseball player but he would only follow certain coaches in college and independent leagues for 6 years after.

Had he gone to a couple of minor league tryouts theres a good chance that he would have been picked up and he would have gone into the minor league to pro track.

Here, the problem with tryouts/ID camps is that the selection process is biased. My position is that the ID camps are a sham and a farce that is meaningless besides helping some players get recruited for college.

My kid has already started college and hit certain metrics so there is absolutely no benefit to her attending a tryout. If I thought USSF provided a legitimate objective process we would participate for fun.

Besides, I am aware of a player that’s been playing up on a YNT since she was 11 without a tryout homie. I’m not with the fuckery that USSF is playing.

It can be, but it's the exception more than the rule......this reminds me of parents who love to tell the rest of us "the coach hates my kid so won't play her much but she's one of the strongest players on the team".......the best are the best, they ultimately get picked whatever the level and don't need excuses.......

I agree that cream rises. My comment was that the process of tryouts is not fair to my kid because a similarly situated player did not tryout and has been playing up on YNT teams since she was 11. My complaint is about fairness and equal opportunity.

Do you think that it’s fair for an 11 y/o to play up on YNT’s while others have to attend tryouts? If so, I’d love to hear why?

My brotha, that is an interesting position fo sho. I've taken the opposite approach with my kid (who by the way can play 2 touch), telling her that every practice is a tryout. Also, you must not have watched many college games, 'cause there ain't much 2 touch being played there.

I always thought your kid was breaking the mold, playing pro in MX while getting a degree this side of the border. I'm sad it didn't work out.

I don't think fairness plays into it at all. I don't think it's fair that Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant got to play in the NBA and I didn't, but some # of people assessed their talent on the bball court as better than my 5'9" ass so they got a chance to perform, took it and never looked back. Maybe there was some implicit bias or systematic racism at work there, but I didn't litigate it at the time so I'm not really sure.

No need to be sad as we are moving forward. If it don’t make dollars then it don’t make sense pimpin. I was actually thinking about changing my Avatar to Cali2Texas…can you crack that riddle homie?

My kid will have a graduate degree by 18. Do you think I am tripping on that lame square business that you are talking about?

Your kid sounds like a boss. Game recognizes game. I wish her well.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t understand what you mean to say with these songs.
Seems to be a error with the ECNL app. Someone must have mistakenly put in a score wrong today. For the older age group it say Beach 4 Surf 0? That can’t be right can it?

If you are moving to Texas, then just see if your daughter can earn a spot on the 07 Solar team. If she can be a genuine impact player on that ridiculously talented squad, then she is a national team starter.

Cool. But, according to established precedent my kid should have a starting position on the U17 YNT already. I am looking for a detailed explanation about the disparity between my player and others so all will be crystal clear before we proceed to avoid any further confusion.

I don’t think Solar will help as the same disparities that I am complaining about apply to their star 2004 player Jaedyn Shaw.

I’m curious as to how their star 2004 player was moved out of her preferred #10 position on the YNT for a younger less athletic player (see concacaf U15 championship v. Mexico);

I’m also curious as to why leadership at Solar hasn’t helped Shaw go pro through Houston Dash with Generation Adidas? Or helped her sign a 9 year deal with Nike? Or a least raised the possibility that there may be something sinister about that UNC offer (ie hush money)?

In short, I think Solar needs to do less marketing of Shaws accomplishments and role up their sleeves and do some advocacy before her statue of limitations runs.

Not here to be cocky, just prove we belong.

#stayhumble
Beach and Legends and I'm sure a few other clubs have always belonged with the top dogs and you never, ever needed to prove anything to the parents. ECNL Locals knew as well and that's why no invite. They wanted your players instead. Congrats on the nice victory btw and I mean that. I see it all now what I dind;t understand 5 years ago and how both of these best of the best clubs had their top, top players stolen from some old guy and his side kick and a couple brothers.....lol! Happy Sunday to you Kicker and I hope we can both put the past behind us. I can, I hope you can as well :) I don;t care anymore about the U18/19 age group for personal reasons I won;t share here. HSS bro is where the real ganas is played, MOO! Yes, I do agree with you that the style of play can be more physical but not more or less a chance to get severely injured. In the past week, I have either watched or heard with my own eyes and ears top players going down with bad injuries. Two more ACLs, a broken leg and two concussions. I super concerned about the back to back games on the weekend dockets. HSS at least gives the girls a day off in between.

I'm heading over to Marie Calendars to pick me up some Humble Pie. The last 5 years, my pride has been my Folly and my competitive nature my Karl ((ego)) and they both took me to places I had no idea I could go. My inner brain told me, "Pride before the Fall" and "Humility comes before one honor himself" and I didn't listen. Remember everyone, this is a place to talk some smack and make fun of yourself and others. I always have a few pokes here and there. This is Satire at it's finest and I live for this stuff. I expect to be bitch slapped back by some of you. Remember, eat some humble pie before you engage me :) I do have to go see the out laws now for some love and bonding. The only good thing about Alzheimer's is the Grandpa forgot about our little jabber doo talk a few weeks ago. I do have to deal with that AD guy. This time I told my wife I will NOT say a thing about the jabbs or the mask life. Please keep me in your thoughts or prayers if you pray.
