How’s the 2024-2025 season going?

I get your point but season performance is based on current result. They are temporarily on 5th with big games ahead. Yes, adding players is part of the grueling season for every team, and sometimes successful if the message is done and delivered correctly. Definitely tough pill for some players/parents when roster is at 20.
I just looked and see 21 names on that roster! I don’t know what they started the season with or if some of those players have left the team or had season ending injuries, but if he’s gone beyond 18 and kids aren’t dressing every week (especially kids who’ve been there all season) that’s just wrong and would be a chemistry killer no doubt. To me it makes sense at the oldest 2 age groups to maybe go beyond 18 but not till then. If you get in a pinch pull up an RL player or two.

What I was told was no one was cut, but instead were offered different playing options such as getting minutes with the 08 or 2010 RL teams and continuing practice with the NL team, but essentially, not dressing for NL games.

I take it most of those parents weren’t happy with those offers and I’m not sure what each of them decided to do after being presented with that option.

I’m not aware of any season ending injuries but I am aware of one player who got hurt and essentially was given above offer who didn’t return to the team. Another returned from ACL surgery and is trying to work their way into rotation playing with RLs.

If its not a top 5 program in the nation and you have a roster over 18 - ITS A RED FLAG. Starters need to develop on the field and log minutes to advance playing the top competition. You cant get better on the bench and you cant get better playing against the bottom half of a team at practice who's scratching for 5-10 minutes of playing time. A teams better off cutting the dead weight but most of these clubs care about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ instead of development so why not make ECNL rosters a minimum of 25 and start handing out participation awards so everyone feels better at the end of the season?

Here is my list of 2025-2026 Transparent ECNL Fee's if you want your kid to go D1. This is straight from rainbow road so my time may be limited after posting this. If its my last post for a bit ill be on the run. Understand , these poor clubs only get the enrolment.

$7500 - Enrolment to the Club. (25x$7500 = $187,500 per team) but you get a full uniform kit and deformed NIKE Soccer ball
$5000 - Starter Fee (pay to plays the name of the game here)
$3500 - Bench Player Fee
$10000 - Susy needs to play the entire game Fee
$20000 - My kid sucks but my ego needs them to be on this team and play Fee
$500 - My kid takes the PK Fee (This ones per game)
$250 - Free Kick Fee (Another one per game but one bad kick and its $500 next time)
$2500 - ODP Nomination Fee (imaging the water cooler clout for such a prestigious nomination)
$5000 - YNT ID Camp (This fee goes directly to the DOC and can only be in cash - cash app not accepted)
$10000 - Team Manager Fee (bargain for those who want a little more control.)
$200 - Privates with the coach (This is per hour and not limited to player participation only - moms love this one)
$3000 - The club will hire 3 randoms at $1000 each for the weekend to sit in a white chair to watch U13 ECNL games
$5000 - Team party host Fee. (nothing flexes the bank account more than showing off your house to the brass)
$1000 - Coaches contact information fee on recruiting video

** These fees can be higher in Orange and Sandiego Counties and are subject to possible credit monitoring. Home equity is required by the clubs incase a players resources cant keep up with the Jonses. At times, a second or a third mortgage could or will be necessary throughout the season. Under a clubs discretion any team can request a new coach for any reason at anytime with a unanimous vote. Every vote will cost $5000 and will be pooled and delivered to the DOC in form of cashiers check made out to "CASH". The proceeds for the fund raiser will go as a welcoming and parting gift for the old coach who will now take over the youngest team for their level of experience. A DOC is subject to receive 35% of all team fees collected over the season and is not limited to receiving a fully paid 24 month BMW lease per new player added to the roster after 12/15. There's a 7 car limit on this one due to only having 7 days a week. Afterall we want coaches to work less for their money and not harder. Development is only a term used to get your money. Fake English accents may and will be used to fool you into believing your kid is good when its really just about the money.
***Please see club director directly for current monthly specials and private training opportunities. Bribes are expected and players are required to pay if they want to play.

Nice list....you just forgot how much $$$ for the ...ECNL patch???

How about we talk about Tryout Week for ECNL!!! Or... the formality of ECNL tryouts so the clubs can officially say they held tryouts:)

It's a real tryout. Just not for the top team.

If a unicorn went to a big tryout, the club would find the parents and get the kid sorted to the right spot. It just rarely happens, since most kids aren't unicorns, and most unicorns no longer go to tryouts.

100%, More like tryouts for RL, and RL2.

Not a loaded question but does anyone believe there is a glass ceiling for top RL players to get to a legit NL team?
Facing that situation with my daughter.
Absolutely there is. It’s like any job that you want to have a supervisor role in, you have to apply outside to be considered as a legitimate candidate because clubs don’t promote from within. But that being said, I know of 4 clubs who have promoted from the RL team to NL from the 2010 age group from within the same club (2 from Sporting, 3 from Slammers FC, 2 from Legends, 1 from Blues). Everyone else who made the jump had to switch clubs.

Clubs have a financial incentive to bring on a player from the outside if there's an equivalent player they can bring up from within. Also often coaches get bonuses for bringing on new players to the club.

The odds are stacked against 2nd team players from working their way up to the top team. However if you're looking to get noticed to get recruited for a top team it's much easier to shine on 2nd team.

This is why people reccommend going to all the different club tryouts + make connections in other clubs. Maybe your current club isn't interested but others might be. Also you can leverage a first team offer at another club to a first team spot on your current club.

Imo unless the team manager or coach invited you personally chances are you are not going to be noticed or be reached out too. 1) there's way to many bodies for coach to do a real observation. 2) your trying out with a bunch of non ecnl players. So opening up, passes, movement, awareness
May put you in bad situations and make you look bad bc of the players around you....

No glass ceiling. Our NL team has a couple players who used to be RL. We also play against NL teams who recruited from our RL team. So it happens.

That said, it’s not easy. Even if she has the skills, she might have to accept a lower status club in order to make the jump.
