Pretty much see the same action at Surf Cup..all this to boil down to a normal weekend of southwest league play!!!

Would have been 4/4 California teams if they grouped up Legends and MVLA with FL Premier and Michigan Hawks

I like how its 3 southwest division teams. All 3 teams within 100 miles of each other. Domination.Pretty much see the same action at Surf Cup..

I just checked the 2011 bracket and they also have 3 socal teams in final 4. Surf, Koge and Blues. Way to go…I like how it’s 3 southwest division teams. All 3 teams within 100 miles of each other. Domination.
But what about older than 2010's? not as many socal teams advancing right? Any thoughts...?I just checked the 2011 bracket and they also have 3 socal teams in final 4. Surf, Koge and Blues. Way to go…
simple. SoCal dominance started with 2010 birthsBut what about older than 2010's? not as many socal teams advancing right? Any thoughts...?
I think the bigger question is what happened from 2010 and the younger age groups that made SoCal so dominant? What were these 2010’s and younger players doing that the olders were not doing at the younger ages? The one thing the 2010’s and youngest have in common that the olders do not have is small sided games like futsal. Because of covid and not being able to play in the big field these younger players were developed different through small sided games. Mvla as well they all played futsal. And the trend continues…simple. SoCal dominance started with 2010 birthsI would expect 2012 and on to be just as dominate in SoCal on the girls side.
100% bro. 3 x 3, 5 x 5 and futsol is how to teach the young players to play soccer. I have a dear pal from NoCal telling me Legends is playing lights out soccer. Go Socal in all the ages and bring home the hardware.I think the bigger question is what happened from 2010 and the younger age groups that made SoCal so dominant? The 2010 SoCal age groups down to 3-4 stacked teams. Parents don't like to lose, so each year they pick up their salty egos and move their kids. They typically leave teams their kids have choked on and move to a larger roster. Its a real easy way to hide your kid on an all star team so their deficiency's aren't magnified. I'm quickly learning that its never the individual player who cant get it done but its always the teams fault.I think the bigger question is what happened from 2010 and the younger age groups that made SoCal so dominant? Surf's cute game got slapped around again by Slammers Koge, 4-1. More evidence that US soccer is broken. Surf's talent and style of play should guarantee success more often than not, but in a tournamnet/playoff setting the old skool kick and run worked again. Its more effective when these two matchup with Koge haveing better athletes and Surf the better footballers but god damn is it ugly. Koge and most successful american girls teams play this overly aggressive direct football so hard to argue with changing it until Spain keeps kicking our butts at every major tournament. As long as this style of play keeps winnig these empty youth soccer titles US women's soccer is going to continue to fall behind when it once had such a lead, sad.

Looks like it was 4-3 not 4-1. Curious how others felt about the game and if they side with GOTins’ indictment of the quality or if GOTins might just be salty? That's unfortunate. I was hoping Surf would win it this year.
Just getting word that we are going to have a Koge vs Legends final… Go SoCal
oh that sounds better. It was definitely a salty post but I get it. It sucks to go over there and lose.Looks like it was 4-3 not 4-1. Curious how others felt about the game and if they side with GOTins’ indictment of the quality or if GOTins might just be salty?
Same question re Legends/Hawks?
lots of blues girls on those 2 teams. Blues really screwed the pooch with the 2009/2010's.Just getting word that we are going to have a Koge vs Legends final… Go SoCal
Imagine if they kept them together… under the right coachlots of blues girls on those 2 teams. Blues really screwed the pooch with the 2009/2010's.
Keep in mind, we have teams from Cal spending over $100k as a team in parent/kid travel plus parent days off work for these National Events. I mean, sure, some teams play more direct, but the stakes for 14 year old girls are way too high imo for another league game basically. Of course the game is going to be tight with enormous pressure. The ability to capitalize on mistakes will go a long way as the pressure on the field must be enormous. A great coach told me that a great team can play possession and direct depending on match ups. When playing a team with great possession, you better have great athletes that can press, disrupt, and capitalize or you better be able to possess yourself and not allow them to control the game. Either way the winner can take pride with what worked. Looks like it was a great game just not a fan of the unneccessary travel which I think translates into very tight pressure filled ugly games, but what can we do?Looks like it was 4-3 not 4-1. Curious how others felt about the game and if they side with GOTins’ indictment of the quality or if GOTins might just be salty?
Same question re Legends/Hawks?
Not true,Koge has 1 former blues player.lots of blues girls on those 2 teams. Blues really screwed the pooch with the 2009/2010's.
Isn't surf in the final of 3 out of the 6 ECNL age groups: 2011, 2009 and 2006 (which they won). Seems to me they are doing fine playing their brand of soccer.Surf's cute game got slapped around again by Slammers Koge, 4-1. More evidence that US soccer is broken.
