Get ready folks

So is MLSN the only hold out?
And EA has been silent. Although anecdotally, an EA coach told a friend of ours their player would be with the younger age group in 2026 due to their Q4 birthdate.

If MLSN and EA don't follow suit, they still have their bio-banding option available. I've seen both EA players and MLSN players bio-banded this season. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

If MLSN starts to biobanding Q4 players, then it will be a sign.
Mlsn already biobands q4 players. They can do it for 3 players iirc. Same for mls 2.

We played an MLSN team in a tournament last month who were playing up because they had some bio-banded players. The tournament wouldn’t let them play their age because of that.
Unusual unless it was a young mlsn team. Dues don’t typically cover the costs outside of the non mls sponsored events and older players are reluctant to do non mls tournaments where they could get injured. Some tournaments like surf excepted.

My kid's friend is in an MLSN team, and they did not play any tournament in the summer because they have biobanding players. They only did several preseason scrimmages. He was not happy when my kid's team participated in five tournaments, and heard that he wants to do tryout practice with my son's team this week.

BY to SY change is a 5 month shift in player pool! I expect next year half of our team will be replaced by older kids. The domino effect will impact playing time and playing positions even if one doesn’t get demoted.

What percent of youth club teams in SoCal are comprised of kids born between Aug 1 - Dec 31?

Even though Aug-Dec is 42% of the year, I'm guessing the % of players from those months is actually much lower. There was a study on this, and I think they showed it was less than 20%, but I could be wrong.

I'm curious what everyone is seeing. Is it closer to 40% or 20% or something else? From what I see, it's closer to 20%.

Our club is unique because it has recently merged with another local club. Most players from that smaller club stayed with their original teams. A lot of talents will get sorted out at next year’s tryout. Just within the club for my son’s year, there are 9-10 late birthday players who will be vying to get on the top team.
