G2010 - How’s the 2022 season going?

The final between Koge and MVLA did not dissapoint. Both teams played a great game and it could have gone either way. Slammers seemed to have followed a specific game plan while MVLA stuck to what they have been doing all year with their ball movement. For me MVLA is the best soccer team in the country having both size, athleticism and controlling possesion of the ball. Slammers Koge have the best athletes and I would go on to say they have the best defense in the country now. I still like Surf as a major contender for next season. Blues will be questionable as I hear they lost a couple more top players (starters) but knowing Blues they will recruit the next players in line. In Socal I can forsee first place to be fought between Surf and Koge next season. If Blues can recruit the necessary pieces they lost I can see them making a run for third in the Sonoran division. For the other Socal division. You can expect Eagles and Beach fighting for that #1 spot next season.
We scrimmaged the HBK team about a month ago and you are right, their back line is solid (and tall), however a couple of their girls in the middle impressed me as they are scrappy and know the game.

From what has been posted on this forum, seems like Surf and Blues will need some “rebuilding”, but they will be fine. Still glad my dd loves the game and is not concerned about winning (which means no drama). Her time will come with hard work, which is better than winning at this age.

Vacation until Surf Cup. Guesting in SD. Relax all, a new season is a month or so away.

They have a very strong middle as well. What HBK lacks is a dynamic striker/forward that can create on their own like MVLA's #15 and Surf's #21 but not to take anything away from Koge. They have a very solid team.

Is it sad that we’re gonna watch all these Richmond games over the next few days over the streaming website? (-;
On the subject, anyone know how long they stay available based on the prior year’s practice? Doesn’t look like you can download from the site.

Watching the games isn't sad. Those were some great games.

The sad part is if we pull our hair out about this or that missed call in those games.

Tons of talent at this age.
Richmond, VA’s weather seems to have been an opponent in and of itself. You can see girls wilting in the second halves.
That championship game with two extra periods each with a goal plus PKs was all-time drama. Hard to ask for more.
What do people think of the two consolation games? I get that it stinks to fly out to Virginia for one game, but it must be really hard to get up for the consolation games and it looks like the energy level in both of those games was off, understandably.

For a west coast team an 8am game in Richmond is really a 5am game in a suana so it's both timezone and weather.
The tough thing for California teams is that ECNL needs the game to end in early afternoon before the thunderstorms come in.
When two West coast teams play each other the weather and time zone are equalized.
If its an East v. West the East has to take advantage of their familiarity with time and weather. Most West coast/Cal teams run out of steam by the second half. I dont' mean this to imply that east coast team will beat west coast teams, there is just a 'home field' advantage they have.

Consolation games have been a mix over the years. Some have been really good games and some have been zero energy.

ECNL should look to offer 3 games instead of just two games. Families spend a lot of money to come out to this, especially after playoffs.
Or, play your final 8 at playoffs and bring 4 teams to Richmond. This creates a 3rd place game a game with no real outcome other than a W/L/T

Now that playoffs are over have there been any late big moves of players to different clubs? And does that change the order of the top 3 in Sonoran or Mojave?

definitely some big players have left top teams. And I just heard we got a top player from up north coming down to SoCal.

Sonoran (3 horse race):
Koge getting richer.
Blues in somewhat of a rebuild mode.
Surf if shuffling a few pieces I think.
After that it's a wide margin to the 4th place team. Sonoran will be very top heavy next season.

Mojave:
Beach added a few complementary pieces and a new coach.
Eagles lost 1-2 pieces and added 1-2 pieces. Questions still linger about depth.
Slammers cut 5-6 pieces and added several pieces.
Legends went to Costco and loaded up on players. Several nice pieces, but it'll be a full house there.
LAFC I believe lost their keeper. Don't know much else.

Mojave will be a dogfight for the 3 playoff spots. Great balance.

I'm sure there is a few moves still to come once vacations end in the next 1-2 weeks.

I think west coast ECNL clubs should put together an official SoCal vs NorCal tournament.

Hold it somewhere in central valley where everyone can drive up for the day + go home at night.

If you want to make it even more exciting invite some of the GA NPL DPL Socal clubs.

Make it 3 weekends. 1st weekend Norcal, 2nd weekend Socal, 3rd weekend winners of the previous week's.

Cross-country travel is crazy with the amount of talent already available in CA.

The MVLA striker is leaving. Shes not in my pile of players to watch so I have no DOC input, but most say she's headed to So Cal.

I didn’t know it was the MVLA Striker. If she goes to So Cal what team is she going to? Eagles, Beach, Koge, Blues? Would be where I would narrow my guess.
