CRL (California Regional League) anyone?

Did ccu just have a really bad game against ovc? Maybe it was the "wind tunnel" in the afternoon games that basically resulted in the two ties?

See earlier post Socal Academy (please don't use ccu) had a horrible game against OVC but OVC also played a good game. the wind tunnel happened in the second half between blues and SoCal and worked in the blues favor; however, the blues controlled the game and SoCal Academy did their best to keep it 0-0 (being objective and not a homer).

Trying to figure this out how they will ultimately select the teams . I think everyone agrees for the most part that due to AS not being able to accept the invitation that there will be 5 teams that are taken.
I cant find the rules as to who gets in for the play in weekend and tie breaker rules.

Are they going by points from all the teams that played and selecting them based on that regardless of the grouping.
Are they going to select the winner of each bracket (counting A & B) bracket as one and then add in one wild card.

What are the tie breaker rules? Again, I don't see that mentioned in the rules.
Also, as I understand there are teams that got the automatic bid but are playing this weekend and they are winning their bracket so how does that affect the selection process.

I was wondering if anyone knows.
Thanks in advance.

I do not think any of the automatic bids are playing .

Surf #1
Legends #1
LAGSB #1
Strikers
Beach
SD Navy
CDA Slammers

Yes, 5 teams will be taken. For the most past you apply for Play-In and their selection committee chooses. If I recall the first tie breaker is head to head. You pose a good question for groups A and B. Honestly I don’t know. But, I do think at this time they will choose the teams (from A and B) with the most points because they used crossed grouping method. With all the other groups not being affected on what happens in groups A and B. No wild card. I do not think any auto bids are playing.

CDA Slammers are playing CRL this year, and no we're not playing this weekend in CRL qualifiers or Legends tournament. First tournament of the year is Cerritos Memorial in two weeks. Anybody here playing in that tournament?

So have we determined that AS is the one of 8 State Cup Quarter-final teams that did not or could not accept one of the 8 guaranteed spots in the CRL league?

Saw this in the G2003 CRL Play In forum: "Just got an email from Cal South. Roster continuity applies to any 9 girls who were registered to the club last year" Wonder if that applies to our age group?

Maybe rules are different considering smaller rosters due to 9v9?

Group C has a lot going on with the point totals. Surf vs Legends is the game. Surf takes it 1-0.
Group D Its between Blues and CCU. It looks like Blues has the upper hand with the goal differential. But, Blues may have the tougher game.
Looks as though your predictions were correct, except for the Blues having the tougher game, seems like they took care of business and ccu struggled. Congratulations to all the teams that pushed through and good luck

So is this the current thinking on the 12 to be included:
1) SD Surf A or Anahiem Surf (sounds like one of these two didn't accept their auto bid)
2) Legends A
3) Beach A
4) Albion A
5) LAGSB A
6) Blues A
7) Striker North SM
8) CDA Salazar
9) SDSC
10) SD Surf B
11) SD Surf C
12) Real So Cal A or Legends South (depending on how they determine group A/B play-in winners)

Pretty solid group.

No regionals for CRL winner either...not sure why???

Because they are 10.
Because it's asinine they even have CRL for 10 year olds this year and they added your year group.
Because driving two hours to watch ten year olds is dumb- adding a flight To Seattle is laughable

Agree, I don't even understand the purpose of CRL at this age other than money. All its going to do is give teams a slight advantage going into State Cup because they get to play better teams from CSL, SCDSL, and Presidio before Cup.

At the G05 age group the CRL winner did not play further after winning. I hope they do the same for the G06's.

I guess I don't understand the hate for CRL at this age group. With maybe only a couple of exceptions, it looks like most of the top teams in his age group will be playing CRL. To your point, it allows these teams an additional opportunity to play against the best local teams. If teams are essentially using CRL instead of playing in a few other tournaments, why is it a bad thing?

Agreed

But I think the hate on CRL at this age is that for the olders, CRL is another opportunity to go to Regionals without having to win State Cup. For this age there is no Regionals, sooooo whats the point? Other than a "long" tournament that takes up a couple months of weekends and cost money.

Don't get me wrong though, I feel like the teams that play in CRL before State Cup have a huge advantage to those who don't. So I guess that's the "selling point".
