CRL (California Regional League) anyone?

Actually, at the G05 age group this year, the CRL winner will be playing further - CRL Champs (along with National Cup Champs) are invited to play in the Region IV Mountain Pacific Championships (U12 Regionals) in Temecula.

So it seems they changed their minds. When CRL was over the message sent was that 05 teams would not be playing.

I would think CRL winner for any age group that has a National cup and therefore Regional Event would then qualify for the regional event. But what do I know...no seriously.....I have no idea!

The winners of CRL and National Cup at U12 do not go to the regional tournament that leads to the national title. Why the exception if National Cup starts at U12? I have no idea. But in the last few years, the winners of National Cup and CRL at U12 have qualified for an alternative "regionals", which was the end of the road for these U12 teams (winners do not advance to a national tournament). For example, last year, the U12 National Cup and CRL champions played in the regionals for the winners of State Cup (I think they played in Colorado). This year, right after our team won CRL, I got in touch with CalSouth and they confirmed that they were working in a regionals tournament for U12 which has become this Region IV Mountain Pacific Championships.
CRL for U12 was a great competition last year, and this year should be the same. A few posters in this forum need to eat a snickers bar, they seem to be way too angry.

Someone believing CRL at this age is unnecessary doesn't mean they are "angry". Get a thicker skin

It's most likely a parent who's DD's team didn't make the cut. Just like those parents who complain about how foolish ODP is at this age. Same song and dance.

CRL pros, the best competition for the 06 age group. Cons, traveling an hour and a half to two hours for a game. I rather do a tournament,

Has anyone heard which teams made it into the CRL from the playin weekend?
It wasn't clear with regards to the cross play brackets which teams would get in.

Thanks

Your entire sentence. 100% NOT related, please stop repeating a lie.

My DD and 'her' were on the same ODP team up in Ventura and they got to be friends. My DD comes back and tells me that 'she' told my DD that 'Coach Cupcake is her uncle'. So if it's a lie then the little girl told my DD a story that wasn't true.. I also spotted her father and BW chilling/watching the tryouts together.

I'm not going accuse your kid of "telling a story that wasn't true". Believe what you want. This rumor is old and meaningless at this point.

So either the sweet kid from Vegas is lying, my kid is lying or some anonymous 'mom' on a blog is lying.. I know where my money is going.

If the next round of games in August is at Galway Downs I seriously hope we get the early 8 or 9 o'clock game to stay out of the heat.

Fields were in good condition, refs were good, parents were (kinda) well-behaved. So far the results have gone as expected. And thank goodness for the return of headers.

Why did they allow headers if Cal South is not going to allow them in State Cup? I'm all for headers but some consistency in the rules would be nice. I can only imagine 2 weekends of CRL in January with headers allowed immediately followed by State Cup with no headers allowed. You know Saturday was HOT when on Sunday at Noon at Galway Downs it was 95 and we kept saying this isn't too bad. Saturdays heat was brutal and not a good day to be short players.

Saturday was a tough one indeed! We where lucky and had the 9am game where it was only 97 at kickoff and we had 1 sub. Thankfully we also had the 9am on Sunday and it was a bit cooler as we didn't have any subs for that game.

I will say this. There is a lot of very talented teams at this age group in CRL.

The no heading rule was applied in one game and not applied in the second for us. I would be great to get some consistency and have some actual coherent communication about it.

Also surprised that there isn't a policy about excessive heat. If you looked at a heat index chart on Saturday it was dangerous at 105 with 30 percent humidity. It would have been even worse in Norco. Maybe I'm too conservative or too soft, but I would always error on the side of player safety for these young kids where the results actually don't matter much if at all in the long run.

Where is the info about the heading rule in 2018 State Cup?

Here's what was implemented in Sept 2016. I think 2006's would be considered 11 at this point until end of year.

I remember last year that heading was allowed during summer tournaments, but outlawed at the beginning of fall season (SCDSL), along with the introduction of the buildout line. Who knows how they'll interpret the rule (not consistently apparently), but IMO the rule should apply for the entire age division. U11s and below no headers, everyone else fair game.
