Baseball..

Trevor Bauer had his lawsuit against him dropped.. they got a hold of his accusers text messages and apparently this girl flat out lied.

And she needs to be made an example of. May have ruined his career. The cancel culture losers jumped all over him. I guess women are to be believed unless it's Joe Biden they're accusing.
She said he hit her in the face ("rough sex").

He said he hit her in the face.

Since they agreed, there was no longer a reason to sue each other.

He didn't agree on her setting him up from the start. There's no crime for 'rough sex'. There are text messages all over the place where she admits to planning to extort him. There's also a video of her lying next to him in bed, smiling, where she supposedly had bruises all over her face... that did not exist. She needs to go to jail and Major League Baseball needs to reinstate him with a full exoneration.

Although I agree, MLB won't reinstate him. So, he'll sue them, and win.

Are you ignoring the fact that they mutually settled and killed their countersuits?

The first round of lawsuits is over. The next round will now begin.

Lots of people do that because it's cheaper than the alternative. In no way does that exonerate her from committing extortion.

I'm not so sure. There was not enough evidence of a crime for the civil authorities to prosecute him, but MLB has a stricter set of rules. They are not likely to accept"But she was asking for it!" as a defense for hitting a sexual partner.

You might be right. They hardly ever lie in their own bed. But food for thought, it opens up a can of worms that has the MLB looking into the private lives of their players and coaches. What business is it of theirs? He wasn't charged. The civil suit showed false allegations from a gold-digger and was being extorted. This almost helps other ball players from being labeled as a wife/girlfriend beater off the jump. You shouldn't be able to fire someone on allegations alone. We'll see if they change their policy on how to handle these types of gold digger cases.

MLB and its players operate under the MLB/MLBPA Collective Bargaining Agreement. The CBA allows the punishment that happened to Bauer. Any lawsuit he brings against MLB must be based on whether he was treated fairly under the terms of the CBA.

Here's a thought -- in order to discourage the use of chewing tobacco, there are tubs of free bubble gum in every dugout. Perhaps MLB can follow up because of this case with a list of approved casual sex partners in every MLB city.

$70M per year for 10. That's about $ 1,750,000 every 2 weeks after taxes. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
Beer will cost $100. Dodger Dog $60. They will charge to use the bathrooms. At least that might keep Richard Espola from conducting surveys about urinal use..

Say it ain't so, Sho --

It's interesting to watch how carefully the ESPN reporters are treading lightly around the Ohtani interpreter story. It smells as if they have a lawyer yelling at them in their earpieces.

Except for Steven A. Smith, who seems to be foaming at the mouth about it, only to be held back by his more reserved coworkers.*

*I have an online friend who always responds to this word with "How does one ork a cow?"

Stephen is always foaming at the mouth because he's a dipshit.

He's acting like he wants to be the one to break what would be the biggest story in the history of pro baseball if Ohtani gets suspended for betting on baseball, and he is driving ESPN's lawyers nuts. I wonder if they have him on a 10-second delay yet.

If the bets were placed from California, they are prima facie illegal under California law. Of course, Ohtani and/or his interpreter have plenty of opportunities to place bats from other states where it is legal, or from Japan or Korea or on an airliner over international waters (don't know if any of that escapes the California net, since the bookmaker in question was allegedly located in California).
