Trans eligibility rules for girls sports.

In the 1960's:
....you could walk into any department store, hardware store, or other business that sold guns, and you could purchase whatever gun you could afford, provided that it was not subject to the requirements of NFA34.
People didn't walk into schools, churches or theaters and start shooting.

I posted an article which broke it down. I've no idea if the article is 100% right, but the 6% you quote agrees to that article, and that the black market & straw purchase are the largest source. It a presentation issue I suppose - its easy to blame "the black market", and thereby ignoring that the source for the "black market" is stolen guns. The largest source for the stolen guns (on the black market) is

“Lazy and incompetent gun owners,” he charged. “It’s literally that simple. Unsecured or improper secured firearms are one of the largest contributors to illegal guns on the street.”

The breakdown (guns used criminal activity) in the article is
- 43% black market
- 6% theft (acquired by the actual criminal directly)
- 10% retail
- 0.8% gun show
- 11% straw purchase
- 15% from friends/relatives
- 12% were there
Not quite 100%, but close

So, IMV, everyone has the right to a gun, but they should have a legal responsibility to store it securely to mitigate the risk of theft and, as you correctly point out, to prevent accidental shooting.

Where do criminals really get their guns? | Fox News
At the end of the day, we can have all the gun laws in the world, but their irrelevant if they aren't enforced. The best place to start would be stronger enforcement of existing gun laws, adding more laws at this point isn't going to get us very far, particularly here in California

Welcome back Lion. Do you know what has changed?
Thanks for the welcome back sentiment crush.
Changed...generally, folks lack of respect for one another as well as teachers, police officers, and other figures of authority. The lack of morals, refusing to punish criminals & attempts to rationalize or excuse criminal behavior. De-institutionalizing the mentally ill, the glorification of violence, the decline of religion. Generally, the moral fiber of the country has been shredded. Passjng another gun law won't stop the killings, or address the morals of the country.

So funny that Mexico’s drug cartels get most of their guns from the U.S. Karens here keep whining about widely accessible fentanyl being smuggled into the US but have no problem with widely accessible guns in the US being smuggled into Mexico, which allows cartels to make the drug smuggling happen in the first place.

The “price of freedom” includes how many children getting murdered by Ar-15s plus how many fentanyl deaths on top of that?
Thank you for connecting all of these dots - very enlightening and coherent. Especially the part about karens. why the hate on karen?

I don't know which laws in which states (as they differ) would deal with the specific example I was stating, or rather which states are not enforcing their specific laws that would deal with the example I was pointing out.

Pick one:

"Most of the firearms used by prisoners during the commission of their crimes were stolen." Survey of prisoners.

"Stolen guns account for only about 10% to 15% of guns used in crimes," Study by the ATF

The clear takeaway is that criminals don't buy guns from a retail outlet. Bigger no shit. I couldn't care less where criminals obtain guns, enforce gun crimes whether it's illegal possession or if it was used to commit a crime, and if your stolen gun ends up in the hands of a criminal you should be prosecuted too.

Agree 100%, so there are laws on the books that say you will be prosecuted if your stolen gun is used in a crime? There may be, IDK, there should be though if it was not securely stored, i.e. my point.

So what you’re saying is criminals don’t acquire guns legally so no matter how much “gun control” or “gun abolition l” we enact, criminals will still get guns and commit crimes with them.

Noted…..

No, but what you are saying is that we shouldn’t do anything about guns unless it stops all gun violence. As you know quite well, virtually all mass shooters obtained their assault rifles legally or from someone who did. Even someone as stupid as you - and you are really stupid - can understand that stopping production of assault rifles reduces deaths.

So do gun safes. So does enforcing laws. So does firearm education. Bet you dont know where most children are killed from guns everyday. Hint, it's not your scary mass shootings. What do you think will make more a difference? Looks like it's not the assault rifle with rounds that explode like grenades and have laser guided missiles that only lock onto a child.

That comes across harsh bro. Let's say I'm robbed at my house. Dude takes my cash, gold bars, stuff in my safe and steals all my guns. Then 6 months later the thief uses my gun that he stole to kill his neighbor. What crime did I commit?

No what you're saying is banning assault weapons is the only choice...except assault weapons dont kill the majority of children so what you're really saying is youre ok with the majority of children still dying from firearms just so long as the dreaded assault weapon is banned. Why are you ok with the majority of children dying from firearms?

But why stop with rifles that look mean? I get it, what you want is to ban them all. I get your position..It's unfortunate for you that you live where you live. But I do get your position. Your logic for once is sound --> get rid of all guns ( and I mean find every single one of them) and there won't be an opportunity for someone to die from a bullet forced out of a steel barrel.

So...going along with your silly logic, people like you will continue to have a ridiculous circular argument, triggering your counterpart on the other side of the aisle to be as ridiculous as you....and never in the middle shall anyone meet.

I'm sure all these solutions the left proposes about gun control will have as much positive effect as their ideas of defunding the police and not prosecuting the sale and/or usage of drugs in SF, and masking to stop the spread of COVID. Here's an idea that protects children immediately and removes unnecessary and ineffective bureaucracy. Win-win.

If only America were a theocracy, we wouldn’t have these problems. Uh huh.

The “middle ground” is not to just pray harder, claim “people kill people not guns” and claim that all we need to do is address mental illness - although you and your friends have spent 20 years “addressing mental illness” only for mass shootings to increase exponentially.

The middle ground is to ban assault rifles, like we did for a decade that had only a single of the 30 worst mass shootings in US history.

In California, there are. I believe it it ends up in the hands of a minor or a criminal in a criminal act there are fines and potential jail time if not properly secured. California apparently has 100 different gun laws, the most of any state.

If the gun was not properly secured, yes you should be prosecuted. If it was properly secured in a small gun safe and it was stolen then, no. Properly secured doesn't necessarily mean un-steable.

You're either being intellectually dishonest on purpose or just dont know shit, which is it? Now how many of those 30 used handguns only? How many are from the pre "assault weapons" era and used bolt action rifles etc? Now here's the gruesome part because you like to talk about girls blood splatter, how many were killed with the "assault weapons" vs. the handgun caliber when there were multiple weapons used?

The middle ground is to ban assault rifles? That isn't the middle ground - do you not get that you and your ilk are part of the problem. Pray harder? maybe you should pray harder, it wouldn't hurt (I'll let you freak out a bit over the idea).

Middle ground will never be achieved when one side determines what the middle ground is. To your point, maybe there will be an assault rifle ban. Which assault rifles do you think will be banned? Do you have a particular one in mind? A certain manufacturer you would like to target? Which definition of assault rifle would we use? How would you handle everyone that legally owns whatever rifle is being deemed an "assault rifle". What's the plan to get them off of the streets?
