NATIONAL CUP O5 2018

We are so use to traveling to SL it feels like we are on auto-pilot. It's a quick 60 minutes, if there ever was.

I agree... I dont even have to ask the people where to park any more for a field... and I just found out they take credit cards so I don't have to steal cash from my husband the night before! And anyone who hates lines.. I bought both my kids sweatshirts ( they have Nike!) on line..put it in your cart.. don't purchase it and in a day or so soccerloco will email u a free shipping coupon. Your welcome.

While we are on the multi-sale topic driven by traveling to NC and SL we have invested in a transponder for toll roads.

Okay. . reached the final stretch here and fingers crossed that all teams are healthy moving into this weekend. All scrimmages are over and prep heading into National Cup is wrapping up.

That being said, any sleepers, predictions, hot/cold teams or 'hot off the press' info that may be of interest to everyone out there? Just curious. Thought I'd try to ramp up some interest & discussion pre- weekend.

Looks like Encinitas Express finally let CalSouth know that their team wouldn't be in National Cup after all.
What's the ripple effect? Just a forfeit? That group is a competitive one and could change the outcome of not having the 4th team.

Yup everyone gets the win they thought they were going to get. Though they are only 1-0 wins so it could hurt for WC chances when they go to goal differential as the first tie breaker if you feel they would of been beaten 4-0 by Real and Eagles.

Any thoughts on Groups E & F since they only have 3 teams each and have to play cross brackets now ???

Real is hardly a sleeper but most everyone talks about Surf and Slammers then Blues and LAGSB, rightfully so, however if it lines up like its supposed to they would get Blues/LAGSB in Semis then possibly Surf or Slammers in finals. Real has a stout def and keeper, and two speedy strikers, not to mention a good midfield. If I was picking someone outside top four (besides my Legends homer pick) I'd look for Real to make some noise.

Good luck to all!

I agree with you. Legends and RSC (my homer pick) are definitely in the conversation and should make some noise. Legends is facing Blues in the first round now due to 3-team brackets and cross play though.

Seems like top teams beat each other up regularly in this tournament which opens the door to that next tier of teams. However, we're coming in hot and I like our chances regardless (wink wink)....

There could be quite a bit of parody as things move ahead though. I don't necessarily think Surf or Slammers get the automatic nod, but that's just my .02 for what it's worth. I definitely think it's 2 of the aforementioned teams that play for it in the end no doubt.

I’ll accept the challenge, RichMan… here’s three tiers, with the teams ranked in order within those tiers. Hope nobody is offended to be left out…this is just my (fun) opinion from what I’ve seen and heard over the last 12 months! Youth Soccer Rankings precedes team name.

Winner Comes From These Three

YSR1 Surf – best of the best

YSR3 Blues Draluck – red hot form, good soccer

YSR2 Slammers Pre Elite – several standout players, well-rounded

Will Make Noise

YSR4 Galaxy South Bay – best of the rest, play good soccer and on good form

YSR6 Real So Cal – physically imposing team, tough defense, on winning streak, play Eagles in bracket

YSR9 West Coast Pre Acad–top dark horse, good tournament team, bracketed with Beach R Perez

YSR5 Beach R Perez – lots of recent losses, have outstanding forward, paired with West Coast

YSR7 Albion Pre Acad–athletic team, free-scoring, recently whacked 5-1 by Blues Draluck among other losses

YSR8 Legends Pre Acad – big strong team, tough cross play bracket with Blues, good GK, 3-game L streak per YSR

YSR12 So Cal Acad Hazell–dark horse, tough bracket with Blues but last meeting tied Draluck 2-2 per YSR

YSR13 Eagles – strong defense, speedy forwards, good history in National Cup, play RSC in bracket play

YSR10 Galaxy SD Bouchereau - have talented players, very inconsistent, tricky bracket vs Slammers (A-team?)

Darkest of Dark Horses

YSR24 South West SC – TFA reincarnated, wild long shot to advance, score lots, concede lots...check their docs ;)

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. With the tryouts before National Cup and some teams having roster changes coming there could be some surprises (good & bad). Can the girls with teams going through changes play their best at the toughest time? Good luck to everyone.

I was wondering how players do when they plan on leaving a team after state cup. Even more so if the team knows about it.

thats where you find out about a coaches character. Some know its a business and respect the family's decision. Others are lunatics and punish the player by not playing a lot of minutes. Now if the player defecting is solid and the coach wants to win really bad then she will play.
