It's 2026, halfway to 2027, and Donald Trump's still talking about the "rigged 2020 election," the right wing is still obsessed with Anthony Fauci over COVID, and I'm seeing stories about Joe Biden's mental decline toward the end of his presidency.
Meanwhile, the Iran war is a total disaster, our military resources are depleted because of it, and gas has been around or over $4 a gallon for most of the year.
In addition to that, the Epstein files continue to be one of the biggest coverups in American history, as this president is clearly ordering his Department of Justice to protect child predators — of whom he could very possibly be one, considering his name appears in those files more than anyone else's except Jeffrey Epstein.
This president is actively trying to rig the upcoming midterms because he's extremely unpopular, his presidency is failing, and all signs point to his party losing power in part, if not all, of Congress this November.
Sen. Mitch McConnell has been missing for close to two months, with no one visibly verifying whether he's alive and, if he is, the status of his health. Let's face it: even if he's alive — and I think he is — the fact that no one has been able to independently verify this means they're hiding something. All it would take is a 5 to 10 minute meeting with someone who isn't on his staff or within the GOP to verify he's alive and report it to the rest of the world. Yet that hasn't happened, which is strange.
Inflation continues to be at three-year highs and has been for several months.
And this president recently said he "trusts" Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin when they tell him they're not helping Iran — when we absolutely know Russia is, and has been, for the entirety of its pointless war. Even when Trump was recently pressed on this, his response was, "If they have, it has been very unimpactful."
At least 18 Americans have died. I think that's pretty damn impactful to all their friends and family who loved those heroes.
So, what the f*ck are we doing here?
The story shouldn't be about whether the 2020 election was "rigged." It wasn't, and we have over 60 court cases that prove it wasn't. The story should be why a deranged 80-year-old who's taken somewhere around three or four cognitive tests still keeps whining about an election he lost six years ago.
The story shouldn't be about the decline of a president who hasn't been in office for over a year and a half. It should be about the clear decline of the president who's currently in office — who keeps falling asleep at meetings and various events and who, as I just mentioned, has apparently taken multiple cognitive exams for dementia over the past year, per his own admission. That seems a lot more like monitoring someone's decline rather than testing to see if he has it.
The story shouldn't be about an 85-year-old who helped guide the country through COVID six years ago. Even if some of what he did, in hindsight, was probably a bit too cautious and ultimately unnecessary, the focus should be on the growing number of health outbreaks we are currently dealing with in this country: the New World screwworm returning for the first time in 60 years, measles reaching 35-year highs, and the parasitic cyclosporiasis making people sick all over the country.
Plus, every other damn thing I just listed above.
This is why I say the bar for Trump is set so damn low. He has never been held to even a fraction of the standards as any other president or even politician before him.
I know why so many on the right want to keep talking about 2020, COVID, and Biden — because they can't actually defend Trump.
That said, we have to push back better on this bullsh*t. Especially in the media, which has to start doing its job and holding this president more accountable.
Because it's ridiculous that this lowlife piece of crap gets away with so much simply because he's so incredibly horrible that it desensitizes us to just how not-at-all normal all of this is. -AC
