CNN is non-stop hantavirus coverage. Hantavirus isn't anything new, usually people get it from rat poop. There was an outbreak in Utah when I lived there years ago. Not a big deal. Not very contagious (unless possibly when you're crammed on a ship with a 1,000 other people). Just don't go around sniffing rat poop and you will be 100% OK.

However, hantavirus and norovirus are two of many reasons I don't want to be stuck on a floating hotel with thousands of other people.

It’s how Gene Hackman’s wife died leaving him to die of thirst and malnutrition in his advanced state of dementia. I’m sick of the coverage as well and never have and never will submit myself to a floating jail cell . . . a cushy jail cell but still. If I ever find myself on a cruise I’m going overboard.

Our good friends went to Antarctica in January. They loved it. Pricey (they had a suite), time consuming and slightly complicated to get there (they did a couple side trips in Argentina). Yeah you’re right hanging out with penguins might be worth it.
