I do not like to be stuck on a ship with set times to do this or that. I prefer freedom when I travel.
For years when my wife and I would travel we would land in a country and once there find a hotel. Then once in country at that point decide where to go and what to do. Granted there were always certain things we were going to do (visit Machu Picchu or go see the Hagia Sophia, etc), but when and how we got there varied.
Complete opposite type of travel vs what you get when on a cruise.
Trapped on a cruise ship with a rat virus and dead bodies on board or a bat virus is no vacation.
The only "cruise" I'd go on would probably be a research vessel to Antarctica. I don't even like to go fishing on party boats. I like people and meeting new people, just in measured amounts if I'm on vacation. First World Problems.
We both 100% agree on your boat take. I was invited to fishing with the boys off the coast of San Diego and Mex. Yellow Tail they said. These fishermen are also drunks and I dont drink. I would puke 1 mile out. I love research vessel to Antarctica trip. For the record, I did the Mex, Catalina and Santa Barbra Cruise. I got sick with a pink pill the first night. After that, I felt trapped for five days but not sick. Food was ok. Never again.

I got stuck going on my first cruise last year.
My bro and sis in law bought tickets for my kids and my wife. My wife for weeks kept asking if I wanted to go with the "rest of the family". She made it sound like I had a choice. After hearing for weeks everyone was booked except for me...I resigned myself to my fate and paid for a ticket.
Something unique like Antartica would be something I could do.
P.S. Two of the fishermen came back injured. One hit his head and needed stitches. The other one sprained his ankle.

Protecting Americans here at home and abroad is our top priority, and that's why my team at HHS, working closely with HHS career civil servants and scientists and the State Department, has strengthened our biosecurity, upgraded disease surveillance, improved outbreak preparedness, and expanded the rapid response capabilities for any public health emergency wherever it begins. We don't need outside institutions to do that.
Going forward, U.S. engagement with the WHO will be limited solely to completing our withdrawal and safeguarding the health and safety of the American people. All U.S. funding has ended. All government U.S. personnel have stopped working there.
I believe this deeply: that only the United States has the scale, the innovation, and the leadership to drive global health solutions that put people first, starting with our own citizens. Although we are withdrawing from the WHO, America will never withdraw from its leadership in global health. America will continue to lead. We will lead with science, with integrity, and with transparency and with accountability.
And let me say this clearly — for the Americans who died alone in nursing homes, the small businesses that were destroyed by reckless mandates, the families whose lives were upended by unelected foreign officials who never answered to them — this decision is for you.
