CNN is non-stop hantavirus coverage. Hantavirus isn't anything new, usually people get it from rat poop. There was an outbreak in Utah when I lived there years ago. Not a big deal. Not very contagious (unless possibly when you're crammed on a ship with a 1,000 other people). Just don't go around sniffing rat poop and you will be 100% OK.

However, hantavirus and norovirus are two of many reasons I don't want to be stuck on a floating hotel with thousands of other people.

I do not like to be stuck on a ship with set times to do this or that. I prefer freedom when I travel.

For years when my wife and I would travel we would land in a country and once there find a hotel. Then once in country at that point decide where to go and what to do. Granted there were always certain things we were going to do (visit Machu Picchu or go see the Hagia Sophia, etc), but when and how we got there varied.

Complete opposite type of travel vs what you get when on a cruise.

The only "cruise" I'd go on would probably be a research vessel to Antarctica. I don't even like to go fishing on party boats. I like people and meeting new people, just in measured amounts if I'm on vacation. First World Problems.
