Agreed, but in our defense we are being blocked from oversight like never before. No transparency and no accountability from our organizations that are supposed to be accountable to us as citizens. The media used to play a vital role in oversight, but instead has traded that role for one of promoting a narrative. I try to actively participate in the battles that I can influence (which is usually on a local level) and bitch about the other issues I can't control. I also have to win the battle at home first, aka raising responsible adults, ha ha.If you read what I said, you made my point, and a few others.
In a related thought, I fail to understand why people are constantly shocked and outraged when power is given, oversight is non-existent or in the form of the fox guarding the henhouse, and then the power is abused. It’s a constant through human history. No individual or organization is immune. Americans, myself included, spend too little time being good citizens, being informed and then providing informed oversight.
