The whole process of confirmation of Republican nominations by democrats is 95% political and 5% competence evaluation. It’s why I don’t feel like there’s value in the process. What’s the objective standard? Unless there’s some egregious crime or truly disqualifying activity a candidate was involved in, the elected President should get his nominee approved. I hold the President responsible for the actions of his appointees anyway.

Why do think I give a shit about any of that? Like most trump disciples you erect straw men. Don Quixote complex. They can all rot in prison, trump should most likely already be there. This world is full of evil and I am not in the habit of excusing one because of the actions of another. Politically affiliations don’t determine what is right or wrong.

Trumps picks are disrupters for the most part. Tulsi worries me most of the ones I am aware of. The rest are just eff-yous to those who wish to keep the status quo or hold criminals accountable regardless of economic or political status. I hope Kennedy gets in and trump lets him revamp how our food is processed. I’m afraid big money will once again step in and we will continue to have red dye no. 40 and all the other known carcinogenic chemicals right there on our cereal aisle shelves. (I don’t eat that crap but I know it’s being fed to children and stoners)

Hirono is the worst. Doesn't she have a town to rebuild in her home state?

I caught some of Hegseth's hearing. I thought he was very knowledgeable. My only concern is his lack of executive experience. We're seeing just in 2025 how dangerous the lack of executive experience is with NOLA and LA. Bass was a PA and community activist before she ran for office.

Ok, but how much of a concern? We heard from @dad4 how qualified Kamala was to be President. You weren’t moved by that as you didn’t vote for her. By far, the most destructive quality we are seeing in politicians is the support of DEI. If he supported DEI instead of merit, I wouldn’t support him. Also, if Hegseth spoke in the word salad fashion Kamala does, I wouldn’t support him. If you want to nitpick, sure. But California is literally burning to the ground because of the DEI support and nihilism of our politicians. I’ll admit it’s a very low bar to exceed - maybe no bar at all - but Hegseth is in another league compared to many of the leaders we have today even with his lack of executive experience.
