It actually makes sense for the military to investigate the usage of electric vehicles, e.g. if they only used them for non fighting vehicles domestically, they could probably save millions in gas costs. Likewise with the evolution of hybrid tech, that may have legs as a fallback solution for fighting vehicles in a worse case scenario. Either way, I doubt the DoD is constrained by petty things such as cost when it comes to range for example, so they could be looking at electric vehicles with a range of 1000 miles which is achievable in concept.Wasn't it the Dem's brain dead idea to electrify military vehicles? We wouldn't want any of those charging stations in the Afghan desert to go to waste.
I doubt its happening soon for fighting vehicles, but the DoD would be remiss in their job by acting like Ostriches when planning for the next 10-30 years by ignoring the potential.

1000 Miles Per Charge – What’s ‘Under The Hood’ Of The Longest Range Electric Cars?
Newcomers are leading the way in terms of efficiency and range. How so? There is one often overlooked component, which, quite literally, drives not only their performance but has a huge impact on the entire car design.
