Honestly part of its demise in AZ is self inflicted. As I said earlier, the coaches have agendas other than to field the best team to represent the state and in some cases are not very subtle about it. It puts people off and with the reduced prestige of ODP parents and players have a much lower tolerance for "politics". Unless they completely rebrand/rebuild the program with much less "coach mafia" and more transparency it will continue to decline.The one thing missing from the azforum was the pages upon pages of ODP talk AZ specific. ODP is a dying animal in AZ, surprised it’s still a thing. In the old days it was 6 trips to Casa Grande and a cool sweatshirt for the street Cred all for about 5 bills. Been there done that bought the sweatshirt. When the age group coach would ask you who your coach was in club, tells one all they need to know about it…. ASA needs it to survive, fact!
And this tells you all u need to know about how important ODP is for ECNL players in Southern cal. It’s a money grab and false advertising. Stay away!Cal South ‘06 girls went 2-2 at the regionals. Looks as though only (3) ECNL players were on the roster; all from Eagles.
