First two paragraphs absolutely true. Third paragraph, last part, not so much.
Most, but not all, coaches care very little about grades. They care that an athlete can produce wins for at least a fall semester. Take a look at the men’s college game and all the foreign players from Burkina Faso, Zaire, all over Africa and Europe (mostly England, Norway and Iceland). Marshall won the men’s NCAA championship a few years back without a single US born player. And that is happening more and more in the women’s college game too. Arizona St is a prime example. Are you telling me that the coaches of these athletes did a deep dive into their grades before the transfer? All the coaches cared about is if they have NCAA eligibility for at least the fall. Graduate students are similar, but at least they have graduated from a 4 year college. Power 4 coaches love graduate student transfers but they love international, season academy players even more.
