How’s the 2024-2025 season going?

This thread is a live again… this is great. How has everyone been in SoCal? We finally made the move to Texas. I couldn’t handle California anymore.

Texas rocks bro. The forum had thousands viewing this thread yesterday and out viewed, The View and Michelle Obama's first podcast yesterday. Congrats @Dominic. Let's stay on topic though fellas and keep politics over in The Kitchen, where it belongs🤣🤣🤣🤣 We don't want to trigger Mr. Jones today. The heat is on the cheaters. I got private detectives from the dark side trying to dig up darkness on crush. It's been crazy the last few days. Threats are real but I live another day. I am not suicidal either, just FYI. Hi EOTL:p:p:p:p:p

The smart ones don't invest anything into California's ODP 🤣

I watched the U15 game against Canada and with how good this 2010 group is - US Soccer is behind. @Luis Andres says they figured out the best forwards for the age group - ill disagree. If you cant get the ball off the foot for the open player making a run since hero balls prioritized - player evaluation is a failure. Ill take Canadas 2010's over the product we have now. They can play possession and figured out its best to roster technical soccer players. Speeds great but with out fundamentals its a waste. The average goal conversation rate for the NWSL's 9.9% - MLS 9.5% in retrospect FIFA converts at 15%. That's 1-2 extra passes to the open player a game. Is it that hard to see why and how the US style of play is falling behind the world? s-e-l-f-I-s-h Play.

What really isn't being talked about and should be - the amount of games this 2010 age group has played. Injuries throughout the last 6 months -playing too many games/minutes is shocking for both the boys and girls.

Is the importance of rest that over looked?

Can US Soccer not govern a better youth system protecting their players from overzealous parents and coaches?

Why is player safety so disregarded? I mean come on. Why should any amateur at this level have back to back matches and play 80 minutes a crack? Is it that hard to implement a max work load to limit these knee injuries?

Why are ECNL players even allowed to play High School Soccer?!?!?

Why don't teams have unlimited substitutions till U17-U18?

Just like stated before - Making the USNT at 17-18 carries weight over 15 years old. @Luis Andres likes driving his sports cars bumping Ice Ice baby with the windows down so he should understand this - give me the base Ferrari 296 with low miles and maintenance records that's been taken care of for a long term ROI vs the fully loaded SF90 Spider that's gone over 100K miles in 5 years. Which Ferrari in another 5 years will still be on the road with fewer breakdowns and problems?

(Sorry for the Ferrari analogy. True middle class Soldiers like @crush understand the need to speak to the majority of the ECNL landscape to get a point across)
I don't understand. What did you watch?

Purposeful passing isn't a strength of that team. Some of the mids don't defend at all or run around aimlessly clogging up the half spaces. Defenders are still dribbling and losing the balls. That team hasn't transitioned out of the hero mentality.
This age group still has lots of players who have been sidelined by the YNT that would probably be a good shot in the arm for that team. They haven't brought in the numbers yet.

I've heard several differnt stories, but in the end M.W. first game in that tournament was against Canada. I heard from one of the scouts she flew down the day before that game which may imply Gotham wasn't releasing her before or she was committed to something until a ceratain date.
I think there is a second pro signing at that age group. Whether legit or not, its another pro team that has the power to release a player or say no. ECNL/GA DOCs would be excited to send players to camps and games. Pro teams, maybe not so much.

Those are not our 2010's. Our 2010's will beat that team no problem. Let me clarify. I mean SoCal's 2010's selected by a non biased coaching team. Not the ridiculous US team they put together and say are the best 2010's in the nation.

Those aren't anybody's 2010s. The game against Canada was 2009s.

To the best of my knowledge, the 2010s don't have an official roster yet. Just different versions of the training camp roster.

Exactly. That's why I replied and said that. Read the posts from Lemmon Pepper Lou that I replied too implying the game they watched was 2010's. I also didn't say they were 2010's in my reply either. And also also the 2010 training camp roster they have been putting together over these years is whack and isn't even close to the best 2010's out there. US feels they have to use girls from all over the nation to put a team together and thats a mistake.

Are you saying some girls from California are being overlooked ?

Don Johnson cut off daughter from 'family payroll' when she refused to go to college. Dakota Johnson is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith.

Typical Elite parent's way to control their children. The elites bought youth soccer folks for this very reason. It's a way for them to use their money to get thier kids what they want for Susie and Tommy. Docs know this more than anyone, trust me. This is the youth soccer business in a nutshell. The poor and middle class is now priced out of elite travel soccer for the rich, so their child does what is told by dad or else. I experienced and witnessed the bribes and blackmail put on these poor children controlled by mommy & daddy.
I generally agree with you, but there are a fair number on scholarship

My point was only about parents controlling their kids and telling them they have to go to college or no family fund. I grew up with these families and I watched this on my pals. We were poor white trash, but I did get to grow up on the beach, so no complaints.

Club corruptions just getting worse - its just rampant. These coaches cant live off base salary out here due to inflation. They need privates and other revenue streams. Accepting money for roster spots and playing time seems to be the norm especially when its being offered left and right. Again like @crush said. The middle class in California's priced out.

Oh indeed.
Speaking with a director of the Youth National program, was told that no club could have more than three players chosen for the National Team. Hmm, one would never say that if the program was based purely on merit. So, to say California has players that would merit being on the national team that aren't is consistent with the fact that they are willing to limit players from one club even if that club had players that merited it.

It isn't until you understand that Youth Soccer at all levels is very political that things make sense. Probably no different from other sports and in fact, everything in life. Just have to remind good players that not being chosen for any particular team is not a good reason to get discouraged. My advice is get angry and use that anger to get better, not to get discouraged and even quit.

What exactly does "no club could have more than three players chosen for the National Team" mean? What is "the National Team" here?

Does this mean the 24-player training camps that happen a few times a year? Or international camps? Because some clubs have absolutely had more than 3 players attend the former in the last few years. I can think of camps where Solar or Surf had 4 players together at a single camp as an example.

When the Mega Docs at the Big Mega Clubs got the power to decide who would make the 2017 U14 YNT (Not a team at all, just a List picked by Docs), all hell broke loose in SoCal. First time ever by the way, that the Doc got to decide who was worthy. Plus, the Mega Doc also ran the United States Soccer Federation Training (grooming) Centers. Now you got a big fat mega liar in charge of the picks. This was total bullshit and ripe with kickback city. These Mega assholes sure did a number on parents and kids and it's still going today. Get these men out, now!!!I lived it and it's why I will NEVER leave until we all see change. These pricks have no business deciding these kinds of pics from pricks. Some bad people got to decide is my point folks. The picks were in the wrong hands. Many players were told "They made it" only to find out they were only allowed one pick this time because the Mega Club got a 5-year contract to host the GDA playoffs. "Sorry 13-year-old female, we couldn't pick more than one this time, but better luck next time." It's a scam. Ok, go ahead and call names assholes and tell me to leave. What a bunch of cheaters and liars and dream stealers.

Not National Camps but the "team" that is chosen from the camp. At least that is how I took it. And, as pointed out prior, there have been National Teams that I am aware that had 4 SD Surf players. Also, it should be pointed out that those Surf players, 2 or 3 were late recruits. I am far more impressed with players that become national players that have played for a club for at least 3-4 years, not just recruited BECAUSE they are a national level player. But, that was a very different time, at least 10 years ago? Surf has 3 10's in the National Camp, and it will be interesting to see if they get picked for the "team". The team is the one that will play in international competitions.

They also need to have girls from all over the country on the team and they will form a less talented team to make that happen. If you really want to be on the womens National team and your in the SW ECNL pool I would recommend to move clubs to somewhere out of CA and your chances will greatly increase to get selected. It just is what it is. Pretty much every one of these girls your honestly splitting hairs on talent so that's where the politics comes in to be the differentiator.
