How’s the 2024-2025 season going?

Here’s the deal: I didn’t mean to cause such stir but this topic makes a good debate. The reality is that the USA has enough talent and depth to build multiple national teams. The reason I made my previous statement is based on my observations over the past few years, watching top players in this age group compete in the ECNL playoffs and finals, as well as attending an East Coast Pro ID camp. There, I had the chance to see some of the best talent from the East, South, and Central regions.

One key difference I’ve noticed about the player pool in California for this age group is their ability to play possession-based soccer at a higher level than players from other regions. I’m not saying they are more talented or more athletic, but they demonstrate better composure in possession, which I haven’t seen as consistently in top players from the Central and East regions. Those regions tend to excel in a more direct style of play but often struggle with composure when maintaining possession...imo

On the other hand, a California all-star team would thrive in a more dynamic style, seamlessly blending possession-based play with direct and counter-attacking tactics. I know this perspective might seem bold to some, but based on what I’ve seen, it holds true at this moment in time for me.

I’d even argue that the 2010 California all-star team is unique because of how they developed during the COVID era. When much of the country shut down, many kids stopped playing on grass fields. However, in California, many 2010-born players & younger who didn’t fully comply with restrictions, continued playing in small spaces, often turning to futsal and arena soccer. As a result, they became extremely comfortable with the ball in tight spaces. This period also saw an explosion in private technical training, which further enhanced their footwork and overall skill level.

You can see the difference today inplayers born in 2010 and beyond are noticeably more technical than those from 2009, 2008, 2007, and earlier. The California 2010 all-star team is a special group, shaped by unique circumstances that set them apart from previous generations.

And to those who think it’s unrealistic to form a dominant national team solely from California’s 2010 talent pool, look at Uruguay. With a population of only 3.5 million, they consistently produce world-class teams. California alone has nearly 40 million people, with a deeply ingrained soccer culture. Given the depth and quality in this specific age group, it’s not far-fetched at all to say a team built solely from California’s top 2010s could be elite on the national stage.

IMO this is the opportunity to finally change the style of play for USA starting with 2010’s… if they want to build a dynamic female team that can play possession soccer at a very high level while at the same time leverage the athleticism, speed, work rate that USA teams traditionally have. It all starts with the 2010’s
Im going to agree with @Luis Andres Better yet ill take his crazy even further.

Ill take a team of all G2010's in SoCal hand picked by Luis - who never got a U15NT OR ODP jersey over any product USA Soccer can put on the field for the SoCal region. It would be by far the best team constructed in the NATION.

The system is 100% flawed.

@crush is just spitting facts. Soccer in Southern California is not for the BEST its for the privileged. Dont get me wrong. These clubs love charity cases too. Players who family's have ZERO money who drive hours to practice chasing that carrot since their club fees were waived. It just gives those DOC's the warm fuzzy's knowing that since other players have paid sometimes triple to be on the team it all evens out and they can rest easy. One sin always evens out with a good deed. Show me one "scholarship" ECNL player and look to their bench. 100% guarantee the funds are coming from that player who has ZERO business being there. Some of these kids shouldn't even be sitting on the benches of RL teams but their parents pockets are so deep they actually get on to a team and into game and then some how get YNT call ups!!!!!

Lets be honest here though. Middle Class families are the suckers. They have a better chance signing their kid up for the Academic Olympics then playing soccer because chasing the Jones's will ultimately lead to bankruptcy. You just cant financially compete with kids getting $145hr private training sessions 3X sleeping in hyperbaric sleep chambers being middle class.

Fuck the SYSTEM!!!!!!!! @Luis Andres Start a GOATS 2010 team already and shove it down everyone's throat. My only request is I want @crush daughter to coach the team so she can scorch the landscape of US Soccer.

Thanks for the encouragement. The middleclass is priced out by the Joneses. Trying to keep up & compete with Mr. Jones bank roll is impossible. Coaches are trained to spot Mr. Jones a mile away when he pulls up in that BMW. Mr. Jones gets what he wants, and he wants Susie on the A Team, a call up and then off to D1 baby. That kind of success is weak, cheating and more like DEI (Daddy's Elite Income). Good luck everyone. California needs it's own State Team, like Oh Canada:cool: Together we will make elite level youth soccer affordable, fair, based on merit and based on EQUALITY!!!!

Well said, I don't disagree with any of this because my 2010 was in SoCal during the pandemic. She intially lived in our garage on zoom meetups with her club and other trainers and training groups, when things loosed it being able to be outide at parks and on the beach nearly every day to train cause of the sunny weather; and clubs like Surf breaking all types of protocols with their "camps". It was a unique time for DD to fall back in love with the ball after some poor coaching experiences. Great debate, just playing devil's advocate for the slept on EASTWATCH.

It looks like that same coach might also have some teams at Elite Development Academy Worldwide, which has some strong teams in the youngers. Their 2015B is #32 in state, #94 nationally.

Dumb, dumb advice. 'Come fly to NC" and waste your money. You work for the airlines or hotels? No team from Socal should be flying to NC to test their grit. Horrible advice for young girls playing soccer in Socal. If your team wants to try its luck against the best, then your team has to pay to play Socal. Get your team on a flight and fly to sunny Socal. What a joke you are🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The NC teams already come over here for playoffs after having an undefeated season and then they fly back home going WTF just happened:) Happens every year for the 2010's.

100%. Back in 2015, some red team from Texas thought they were #1. They would come on here and brag and boast for being undefeated. Then they came to Surf Cup (when it was best of the best) with their big Red Texas Flag and went home with zero wins. My dd team won it all and then again in 2016.

go to the 2011 forum. We don't care

Sorry, I forgot this thread is reserved just for men weirdly obsessed with the 2010 girls.

My comment was in response to the brewing discussion on how club soccer is pricing out talented kids and how LA's pilot program, which costs just $10 a month, shows promise. But I realize now I didn't mention how SW 2010 girls are the best in the whole wide world and there are no other talented players anywhere else in the country and there are definitely no talented girls locally who can't afford club soccer and who might benefit from a wider expansion of LA's pilot program.

I apologize, sincerely.

I loved your post for the $10 a month part and the fact a rec team beat club teams. My pal coached rec softball in Covina with his dd and his team would play travel ball teams and spank them. Then, the travel ball coach would poach his best players.

well as long as you recognize its all good:) just messing with you! Some of the LA players drive down to play in the Southwest if they are good enough but you definitely need to have the means to make that work. Not obsessed (well maybe) but I like posting to get some action in this forum. If your in here you should have a 2010 girl but Crush gets a pass because he knows what age group the best girls are in right now.

All checks out. Nothing weird about this. No pass here from me for the creep accusing anyone who disagrees with him for being a DOC out to get him because of his DD who is now in her mid 20's. Softball references now? Go away

And they play each other more than they play anyone with with minor margins which means you stay in the top 5 further perpetuating a narrative that is true in many ways, but not all and the dominance part just is not true for one single age group I've lived in two ECNL markets and know a third intimately becuase of family. SW is king no argument, but elite talent is spread out as it should be as soccer can be mastered anywhere an in most environments. Come to ECNL NC one spring and test yourself against some East Coast teams. For example the only time any of your teams do come East its for nationals In Richmond where the last two summers yes Koge walked away with the chip playinng against another Cali team in final each time. However they were not steamrolling these non-Cali teams on their path to vicotry. All the games are close. If you were to make an all tournament team from the final 8 teams it would not be all Cali girls, period.
2010's will start to do ECNL showcases on the east Coast so we will see how that plays out.

yeah I don't go back far enough so I'm revoking my ability to hand out passes!
I do appreciate the free hall pass. The cheating Docs hate me because I caught them cheating, lying and taking kickbacks and banging a few moms for promised play time for their kid. It's all good. I just want the cheaters to come clean, say sorry and promise not to cheat and take kickbacks for a spot ever again. Is that too much too ask?

I’m going to go out on a limb on this one as well. And I’m sure I may get some heat for this from 09 Dads I know. But having seen the top girls in SoCal for the 10’s and 09’s. If we were to take these 2 age groups & have them go pound for pound and the bets were on in Vegas, I would put my money on the 10’s to win the game. That’s how I feel about this group…

To be honest I think USA soccer has done a much better job lately with the scouting process. The way they are testing different combinations of players within their 24 player camp events. As far as the 10’s I believe it’s been tough because there is lots of depth in this group. They have the best forwards figured out. You can obviously see they have the right picks. They haven’t solidified the mid and defense just yet… a few more 24 player camps of testing & inserting different combinations of mids and defenders will probably help them further fine tune this team. 09’s, 08’s, 07/06’s all pretty much set. At the end of the day if you haven’t been noticed yet by USA at 14 years old is fine. Making a national team at 14 is not as impressive as making it at 17 or 18… if the system is right then we should soon see the cream rise to the top 🔝

Whether on purpose or not, the YNT is slowly walking away from their focus on positional profiles and starting to focus a bit more on players who are multi position capable, better rounded. Several EU clubs and WPSL teams are trending in the same direction with scouting and selections as well.

The scouts have told the DOCs for years that they could usually make 4 YNT teams per age group.
Problem was they would only bring 40-50 kids prior to the final U17WC rosters.
With the size of the US the should have 70-100 in camp before their final U17WC roster is set.
The 08s and 09s might see a rush to bring in more and more kids. The 08s have U17WC in 6mo and they still bringing in new kids by the handful.
