Games of the week....

If they can't finish by now it's more than likely not their position? Size and speed is good at younger ages, but when everyone is of equal athletic ability not so much. This is where skill comes into play.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. Theres tons of kids who are physically developing or learning how to finish. IMO most of the best finishers in this age group are kids who were taught how to shoot by their dad at a young age.

I see a lot of pretty successful strikers at this age group I am 100% sure will not be top players in a few years because they just don't have the speed or are already having trouble with their weight, and that's a problem that gets worse with age.

I'm sure there TONS of kids learning , JJP. But the ideal player as you pointed out for academy be the ones, "kids who were taught to shoot at a young age".

Doesn't that make sense?

Navy very organized in the first half. Slammers had quite a few shots on goal but right at the keeper.
A couple of stand outs on Navy. Officiating left lots to be desired, but it usually is in San Diego.
When both teams played the width and connected they both looked better.
Good job from Navy. I remember last year or so being up on them 2-0 with 3 minutes to go and ending with a tie. So they have a lot passionate players.
